Pirots 5 Slot RTP, Details & Wager Limits
Much like many of the previous Pirots titles (except Pirots X), Pirots 5 slot uses the CollectR™ win mechanic, where four birds move around the grid collecting corresponding gemstones. The game has a 6×6 gaming grid that can expand to up to 8×8.
You can wager between 20p and £100 per spin (£5 max in the UK), just around the standard range you’ll find at most new online slots. As usual, the game comes with autoplay and quick spin functions, but they are disabled at Pirots 5 casinos in the UK.
ELK Studios sets the default Pirots 5 RTP at 96%, with variants as low as 87% also widely available across UK online casinos. Meanwhile, the volatility sits in the medium to high range, rated 7 out of 10, and the base hit frequency is 25.1%. It suggests that it’s better suited for players with a deep bankroll.
The high risk is paired with a 10,000x-the-bet Pirots 5 max win. It’s sizable and has been consistent through the series. If your sights are on jaw-dropping payouts instead, I’d recommend trying your luck with progressive jackpot slots.
Pirots 5 Theme—Quirky Parrot in an Egyptian Temple
Outside the technical side, one thing I love about the Pirots series is that the title never gives away the theme. The only thing you can count on is the restless parrots causing chaos across the grid.
In Pirots 5, you can pick from 3 different worlds: Cursed Temple, The Kraken and City of Gold. Each with different themes, but they all maintain the same gameplay, meaning you’re only swapping one backdrop for another.
I spent most of the time in the Cursed Temple, an ancient Egyptian world set inside a temple with hieroglyph-etched columns. Journeying with ELK through the series, I wasn’t quite ready for the birds to land among the pyramids—just yet.
While the theme is common, the execution isn’t bad at all, with a pair of sacred birds and flaming touches flanking the grid. The quick intro had me smiling already before I’d even reached the main game. However, I wish the soundtrack had been more original.
The pirate theme in The Kraken world also gets a nod from me.

Pirots 5 Mobile Slot
Pirots 5 is the sixth release in the series, so adapting the roaming parrots to smaller screens has become second nature to ELK. The polished Egyptian visuals don’t lose their spark on mobile casinos, and I didn’t experience any stutters during my playtest, whether in landscape or portrait mode.
I enjoyed it better in landscape mode, though. It captures the ancient setting better, offering a good view of the hieroglyphs and other Egyptian elements in the background.
Pirots 5 Bonus Features
Pirots 5 is packed with bonus features. This includes Switchero, Traps, random modifiers, a Cursed Temple Coin round, and a Bonus Game.
Collection Meter and CollectR™ Mechanic
Unlike regular casino online slots, the game doesn’t use paylines or even cluster or scatter pays. Instead, it’s built around the CollectR™ mechanic, which allows the four coloured birds to move vertically and horizontally, collecting corresponding gemstones.
The Collection Meter above the reel progresses as the birds collect gemstones and wilds. Once the meter is full and the birds can no longer move, all pending feature symbols are simultaneously thrown onto the reels.
Note that the Collection Meter resets on every new spin.
Feature Symbols
Feature symbols can either land randomly on the reels or from the Collection Meter, and the game comes with a total of 10 of them. Here’s what some of these symbols offer:
- Coins: Hold cash values that are awarded instantly. Landing a Max Win coin awards the game’s max win.
- Wilds: Substitute for gemstones at their current pay level.
- Transform: Changes a cluster of gemstones adjacent to a bird into gemstones that match the bird’s colour. It may also transform a random number of gems into feature symbols.
- Super Transform: Works like the regular Transform symbol, but it transforms 2 or 3 gem clusters.
- Captain Blackfeather: Triggers when it lands adjacent to a bird. It transforms up to 4 birds into ghosts. Their gems also transform into Blackfeather gems with increased payouts, ranging from 0.15 to 30x the bet.
- Tokens: Appear randomly on the reels in all game modes except the Cursed Temple Coin game. It pays 5x the bet.
- Upgrade Symbol: Upgrades the payout level of the gemstones of the same colour as the bird that collected the symbol. There’s a maximum of 7 levels, and the Upgrade symbol can upgrade a gem’s level by up to 3 steps.
- Upgrade All Symbol: Upgrades the pay level for all gemstones simultaneously by up to 3 steps.
The other feature symbols are Bonus and Super Bonus, both of which I’ll discuss later.
Switchero and Labyrinth
When two birds end up in adjacent positions, there’s a random chance that the Switchero or Super Switchero feature is triggered. In Switchero, the birds will swap places to increase the chances of collecting matching gems.
Super Switchero, on the other hand, causes one of the birds to move farther away, either to the edge of the grid or to the next corresponding gem.
There’s also a Labyrinth feature that is triggered when 3 symbols are in adjacent positions, and they can’t collect more gems. Here, gemstones are removed from a random number of positions, causing the birds to move along the empty spaces until they are separated.
Traps
The game comes with 3 trap features that are triggered when a bird steps on a trap. I’ll discuss them in the next sections.
Arrow Shooter Trap
Whenever a bird lands on a position with an arrow shooter trap, the trap appears on the outer rim. At the end of the spin, the pending arrows are shot onto the reels. If the arrow meets a bird, it’s removed from the reels and its gemstones transform into those of a random bird in view.
In a case where all the birds are shot, the gemstones of the last bird will transform into coins. Removed symbols can reappear on the next symbol refill.
Boulder Trap
The Boulder Feature is triggered when a bird walks over a boulder trap. It rolls a 2×2, 3×3, or 4×4 boulder horizontally or vertically across the reels, crushing all birds, gems, and walls along its path. All removed symbols can return on the next refill.
Secret Door Trap
It splits the grid into 4 squares and rotates them 180 degrees, moving regular symbols, traps, and feature symbols to new positions. There’s also a chance for birds to move across already collected positions to reach additional symbols.
Random Modifiers
You can feature 3 modifiers that can reveal special feature symbols or increase a bird’s chances of collecting more gemstones.
Catabombs
Each corner of the grid has a Catabomb with a random bird colour and reshuffles at the start of every new spin. If a bird collects a gem in a corner that matches the catabomb’s colour, the corner is activated.
The bird enters the catabomb and wages war against a mummy. If the bird is victorious in battle, it will receive a feature symbol. If Captain Blackfeather enters the catabomb, it will win every battle.
Portals
Portals can appear outside the main gaming area. In a case where a bird has corresponding gemstones in adjacent positions to 2 or more portals, the bird can teleport to that position and continue its movement.
Tunnels
If walls connect 2 portals, they can serve as a tunnel. The tunnel reveals feature symbols that are collected as a bird passes by.
Cursed Temple Coin Game
The Cursed Temple game triggers when the entire grid is cleared during the Secret Door feature. It’s played on an 8×8 gaming area with a Hold-and-Win-style mechanic.
At the start, you are awarded 3 respins, and only Coins can land on the reels, each resetting the spin counter. The 4 birds are positioned on each corner, and they collect Coins that land adjacent to them.
There’s a 2×2 Cursed Treasure at the centre that can remove a bird that appears adjacent to it. The bird’s win is added to the total, and a random number of Coins rains on the reels. Any Coin that lands on a bird doubles its current win.
Additionally, activating the rotation trap causes up to 3 grid sections to rotate into new positions for new collections.
Bonus and Super Bonus
Trigger the Bonus game by collecting 3 bonus symbols during the base game, and you’re awarded 5 bonus drops. Each bonus symbol collected in the round awards an extra spin.
If one of the triggering bonus symbols is a Super Bonus symbol, it unlocks the Super Bonus variant instead. In both bonus rounds, the progression meter, gems, random modifiers, and feature symbols all remain intact, like in the base game.
Furthermore, Captain Blackfeather remains persistent on the grid whenever it appears during the bonus round. In the Super Bonus round, a Cursed Treasure Coin rain unlocks at the start of each spin, adding a random number of Coins to the reels.
X-iTer™ (Unavailable in the UK)
As is standard with some of the best online slots, Pirots 5 allows you to buy your way into the bonus round. Here are the available Buy Bonus options:
- Bonus Hunt (3x the bet): Increases your chances of triggering the bonus round by 5 times.
- Mega Hunt (10x the bet): Increases your chances of triggering the bonus round by 20 times.
- 50x the bet: Guarantees you trigger the Cursed Temple round.

Pirots 5 Verdict: Keeps the Packed Gameplay While Introducing 3 Deadly Traps and Captain Blackfeather
Pirots 5 might feel like an overload for newbies with its somewhat complex gameplay. However, if you don’t mind thrilling titles with a lot of moving elements, it’ll be right up your alley.
If you only enjoy straightforward slots with just conventional features, you might want to sit Pirots 5 out; in fact, most of the Pirots titles. There’s so much happening at once that it might feel a bit overwhelming. But if you’re already bought into the four quirky parrots, things only get more engaging from here.
Collecting gemstones, level-ups, corner bombs, tunnels, and grid expansions should all feel familiar to returning fans. Personally, what makes this sequel feel fresh is the introduction of the 3 Traps. One minute you’re watching birds move around the grid, and the next, a giant boulder is rolling across the reels or arrows are flying around.
All in all, Pirots 5 is an innovative step forward in the series, and an easy recommendation for players who fancy fast-paced games.
