Our reviews are detailed, impartial and from a slots player’s perspective. Honest and transparent, we also review the UK casinos where you can play these slots can be played. Below you will find our reviews policy for both slots and casinos.

How We Rate Slots

We at have been providing detailed slot reviews since 2011. Our aim is to provide an in-depth look at all aspects of a slot game. This will hopefully give you an informed perspective so you can play the slot that’s right for you.

Our detailed reviews are honest and transparent. The aim is not to get readers to play the slots. It’s to give readers enough impartial information so they can make the best decision themselves. This may not be to everyone’s liking but not every slot game is great. Some are terrible truth be told.

We work closely with slot providers to get access to upcoming releases. Whilst we have good working relationships, our opinions and analysis of a game isn’t compromised by the strength of our relationship. We are honest with the slot creators and vice-versa, even though this may not be ideal at times. It’s in everyone’s interest to be honest, upfront and to act with integrity. Here’s how we review slots in a little more detail:

Slot Details

Dead or Alive 2 slot: 5 reels + 9 paylines, play from 9p to £9 per spin, 96.8% RTP, 29.8% hit frequency rate and 111,111.11 x bet max wins.

First things first. We look at the number of reels and paylines or the mechanic used (i.e. Megaways). The way winning combinations are formed will also be highlighted (i.e. 3+ matching symbols across successive reels in any position).

Then the bet levels are included. Most slots can be played from 10p or 20p per spin but it’s also worth mentioning the maximum bet for players with deeper pockets. If there’s an Autoplay facility and Quick or Turbo Spin modes, these are reported.

More importantly, we look at the RTP % (Return to Player) and how it stacks up against the 96% online slots average. If available, the RTP split between the base game and bonus features is given. We look at the hit frequency rate which is how often a winning combination lands on average.

Then we highlight the volatility or variance. Being highly volatile means big wins won’t arrive often but have the potential to be big. Low variance slot will dish out plenty of wins but of a smaller nature. Whilst this is pretty standard detail, we finally mention the max win potential (i.e. 5,000 x bet per spin/free spin). This is a crucial bit of information for most slot players.

Book of Dead slot: ancient Egyptian theme, classic Arabian soundtrack, Rich Wilde highest paying symbol, Book wild/scatter and available to play on mobile, tablet and desktop devices.

In this section, we look at what theme the slot uses (i.e. ancient Egypt). We look at the graphics, images and inspiration. Most slots have a clear theme but providers like Nolimit City for example create unique games that are not conventional.

The soundtrack is also looked at with some slot providers really spending a lot of time to create a superb audio experience. Slots nowadays are like video games with the production quality being so high. Then we look at the symbols and their payouts and functions. This also includes Wild and Scatter symbols.

Finally, we will let you know if you can play a given slot on mobile, tablet, laptop and PC devices (spoiler alert = they all do these days). However, with providers like 4ThePlayer and Push Gaming being mobile-first, we analyse how this affects the playing experience.

Bonanza Megaways slot: Reactions, Free Spins and Unlimited Win Multiplier features.

Bonus Features

Here, 1 of the most important elements of a slot game is analysed. Long gone are the days of Vegas slots where you spin the reels and hope to land a winning combination. Newer slots come with bonus features which are extras to boost your winning potential.

The most common feature is a Free Spins feature. Landing 3+ scatter/bonus symbols will typically activate a certain number of free spins. As time has gone on, slot providers have made a big deal of their free spins with various extras like expanding wilds, increasing multipliers, expanding symbols and cash bonuses.

Other bonus features include respins, multiplier wilds, avalanche reels/cascading symbols, trail feature, pick me game and jackpots. Some slot games have 10+ bonus features so there’s a lot to look at sometimes. We go through each bonus feature in detail and every element so you know what to expect.

Starburst XXXtreme slot: brilliant graphics, much better than original slot, multipliers up to 450x key to big wins, and 200,000 x bet top payouts is huge.

Our summary section is the last and arguably the most important part of a slot review. We look at the theme/graphics but focus on the bonus features and the win potential. With most slot games having elements from other titles, we compare them to similar slots and suggest better alternatives if needed.

As new slots are released almost daily, not every release is unique. A slot provider may change something small or blend a range of existing features in a different way or with a different theme. We highlight what we like and what we don’t. Our aim is to be blunt and honest with our verdict even though it may not be favourable.

How We Rate Casinos

features of the best slot sites

All casinos/slot sites found at are reputable, trustworthy and have an operating UK Gambling Commission license.

Whilst slot games are our focus, players need an online casino or slot site to play them at. Therefore, casinos are vital for this. Every casino we recommend is UK licensed (by the Gambling Commission) and trustworthy.

In our casino reviews, you will find the site’s license number with a link to their license details on the UKGC website. Here are the aspects on what makes a good casino/slot site for UK players:

Welcome Bonus/Offer: this is 1 of the most important aspects for a potential new customer. We detail to bonus offer including information on wagering requirements, what slots are valid for the free spins (if any), restrictions and what payment methods you can use to claim the offer.

Existing Customer Offers: we look at promotions and offers for existing players. With loyalty/VIP programmes the most popular, we look at how casinos work hard to keep their customers happy with various offers. These include free spins, reload bonuses, slot tournaments and cashback.

Site + Mobile: here, we look at how easy to site is to use and navigate. This includes how easy it is to find your favourite slots, if you can create your own lobby, if promotions/offers are easy to find and whether information such as FAQs and support is accessible. We also take a look at the mobile/tablet versions of the site which may include dedicated iOS and Android apps.

Slots: this is the crucial section as we are all about slots. Most sites have games from NetEnt, Play ‘n GO and Microgaming for example but the better ones have other top providers like Big Time Gaming, Nolimit City, Push Gaming and ELK Studios. You’ll be surprised how many top providers are missing from the big UK casinos.

Payment Methods: you have found a casino where you want to play your favourite slots at. What you need next is to find a payment method that suits you. We list all payment methods a casino offers as well as the minimum/maximum deposit and withdrawal limits. This includes information on any fees (if any), withdrawal times and if the payment method is valid for the welcome offer.

Security and Account Verification: here, we look at the company behind the casino and how reputable it is. This includes details on their UKGC license, if they’ve had run-ins with the Gambling Commission and how to verify your account (i.e. automated/sending documents etc).

Customer Support: this section tells you how you can get in touch with the casino’s support team. We highlight the hours you can get in touch (i.e. 24/7), what ways you can contact them (i.e. Live Chat, freephone, email, on-site messaging) and how responsive they are. We also mention whether they have an FAQs section and how good it is compared to other casinos.
