The reels are set within an abandoned jungle temple that’s covered in creepers and overgrown vegetation. With an Aztec feel, the symbols are set on brown stone blocks which make a reassuring thud when they drop into position. On those stone blocks, you’ll find a collection of objects a treasure hunter might carry on a jungle trek including a notebook, a rope, compass and binoculars. Lucy Luck and the Crimson Diamond is a very playable slot. Visually, it offers just what we’ve come to expect from a release from Slotmill. The design is very easy on the eye and the soundtrack provides plenty of atmosphere.

The gameplay stacks up nicely too. There’s a steady amount of action courtesy of the Avalanches. It’s the features that can liven things up though. The Treasure Chests are a nice addition, especially if you manage to uncover one from Tier 3. It reminds me of the Hidden Chests feature in NetEnt’s Lost Relics 2.

The free spins features offer a couple of nifty little extras in the form of progressive multipliers and Treasure Chests. I found the Treasure Chest values to be more lucrative than in the base game.

Overall, there’s not a huge amount to criticise here. The RTP of 95.5% is a little on the low side. If you want a slot that offers a huge range of extras, you might find the somewhat limited offering here not quite to your taste. The 10,000 x bet maximum win should be to most people’s tastes though. That said, Lost Relics 2 comes with 21,148 x bet max wins.

Overall, the Lucy Luck and the Crimson Diamond slot is a well-produced game that offers an impressive take on the ever-popular treasure hunting theme. Slotmill has since created a sequel, Lucy Luck and the Temple of Mysteries, which has a higher RTP rate but many more bonus features. I’m sure there will be more Lucy Luck slots in future too.
