The Sweet Alchemy 2 slot is played across 9 reels, 9 rows, and boasts a cluster pays mechanism. Although this gives you 81 positions, at the start of a base game spin, only a space of 5 × 5 play area in the middle of the reels is active.
To form a win, you must land 4 or more matching symbols connected horizontally or vertically. Like most grid slots, forming a win sparks an avalanche feature, which we’ll talk more about later. In addition, a winning cluster also destroys an equal number of chocolate blocks, increasing the play area and allowing more symbols to fall in.

We’ve got no problem with this, as it makes for a colourful and appealing slot, yet we could do without her ad-libs. Aside from her cheers, the slot has a pleasant soundtrack, though we wouldn’t blame you for putting it on mute.
The reels hang against a sweet, pastel-coloured, fantasy land where lollipops adorn trees and castles are made out of gingerbread. Different coloured sweets make up the paytable. The star candy is the highest paying symbol, rewarding you with up to 250 x your stake for a 20-of-a-kind cluster.

Avalanche Feature
As we mentioned earlier, Sweet Alchemy 2 comes with an avalanche feature. All symbols that contribute to a win are removed from the reels and new ones fall in to take their place. This gives you multiple chances to win from a single spin. In addition, as the play area expands, new symbols also fall into the destroyed chocolate area.
Free Spins Feature
If you manage to destroy all the chocolate blocks in the base game, you’ll receive 4 free spins. The free spins play out on a new screen, with the chocolate blocks back in play. 2 x 2 symbols may also land during your free spins, giving you a better chance at expanding the play area.

Bonus Wheel Feature

First things first, the Sweet Alchemy 2 slot boasts a great looking design. In an exclusive interview with Play’n GO we learnt that their players love candy-themed titles, so we’re glad they’re listening!
That said, whilst Sweet Alchemy 2 looks like it would give you toothache, the gameplay is actually quite serious. The medium to high volatility of the game means that big avalanche wins don’t happen too often and without them, you’ve got no hopes of triggering a bonus feature.
When we did manage to clear all the chocolate blocks, we felt a bit shortchanged by only 4 free spins. Most of the time we didn’t manage to retrigger the feature for extra spins either, so it felt a little anticlimactic. On the times we reached the bonus wheel game, grabbing a multiplier definitely sweetened the deal, and this is your best shot at reaching those 10,000 x bet max wins too.
Overall, players who love the original are sure to enjoy Sweet Alchemy 2. Whilst we were happy to see that Play’n GO have introduced completely new gameplay features, we don’t think it’s going to be a huge slot for everyone. The theme has proven mass appeal, yet the ratio of challenge to reward in the gameplay seems off.
