The disco theme in the Reel Star Dream Drop slot is a fun one that certainly gets the nostalgia flowing. The look gives off the classic slot vibe, but it also reminds me of an old TV show with the background visuals. Take Me Out springs to mind. No likey, no lighty. Anyway, moving on…
I liked the upbeat soundtrack, to begin with, but it is rather repetitive and can grate on you after a while. I wouldn’t blame you if you hit the mute button in the end. I did. However, it does fit the overall theme very well. The graphics aren’t next-level by any means, but it’s all very nicely done and will appeal to anyone who enjoys a classic setup.
On the reels, there are 6 main paying symbols – the bell, horseshoe, clover, diamond, crown and the pig. The crown and the pig symbols pay the most, awarding 1, 4 or 15 x your total stake for 3, 4 or 5 in combination.

Star Symbols feature

While this is a nice feature, it would have been great for it to be used in a Tumble-like way. Unfortunately, whatever you will only win what you land initially. There’s no opportunity to increase your win.
Upgrader feature
Each upgrade symbol that lands on the reels will double the pay for each of the Star payouts. On each reel, there is at least 1 upgrade symbol next to a Star symbol, so it’s possible to land 5 upgrade symbols together with 5 Star symbols. When you think that the max multiplier is 250x, 5 of those would total 8,000x, which is the max win.
Free Spins feature
Land 3 Free Spins Scatters on reels 2, 3 and 4 to trigger this bonus feature. You don’t get a specific number of free spins just yet as you need to spin a wheel. It’s completely random, but you’ll be awarded a certain number of free spins, a multiplier and a number of moving wilds. Here’s what you could get:
- Free Spins = 5, 7, 8, 10, 12 or 15
- Multiplier = 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x
- Moving Wilds = 2, 3, 4, 5 or 7
Simply spin away until your free spins run out. Note that on every spin, the moving wilds will move to random positions where they act as overlays.
Dream Drop Bonus feature
This is triggered randomly during the base game. Only blanks and Dream Drop symbols appear on the reels and you need to land 1 Dream Drop symbol on each of the 5 reels to trigger the jackpot spin. If you don’t manage it, you’ll simply head back to the base game.
If you do manage to land 5 Dream Drop symbols on the 5 reels, you will spin the wheel, as seen in the above screenshot. You will win whatever it lands on. When I was testing this slot thoroughly, I did trigger this bonus feature a fair few times, but I only landed the jackpot spin once. So it’s worth noting that getting the chance to spin for a jackpot is pretty rare.

Reel Star Dream Drop Review Summary – the jackpots elevate this title
If you’ve played the original, you’ll notice that the only difference here is the Dream Drop Bonus feature. But if you’ve not played the first instalment, I think you’ll agree that it’s a fun game to play. I enjoyed testing this and I appreciate the visuals and the classic feel. The soundtrack is very apt for the theme, but I wasn’t a fan personally.
