In the Artifacts slot, there’s a 5×3 set of reels. It’s a standard setup, but like Megaways slots, it uses a pay all ways system for 243 paylines. Landing 3 matching symbols on a line creates a win, and it removes old symbols for new ones to appear. The symbols don’t cascade, so it’s different from how other online slot games handle this feature.
You can start spinning the reels in the Artifacts slot game with 20p per spin. It’s set at a solid level for beginners, but there are new slots that offer lower starting points. You can play with up to £50, which isn’t on par with the best slots for high rollers. Controls are on the right of the screen, and are simple to use. Artifacts Mobile Slot
There’s very little change between the Artifacts mobile slot and the desktop version. The controls stay in the same place, and the graphics look absolutely fantastic. It’s a superb conversion that will appeal to players who enjoy mobile casino slots. I also couldn’t spot any differences in the sounds, so you get the full medieval experience on smaller devices.
It works best in landscape mode, although it’s still playable in portrait. As it’s a 5×3 game, the rectangular shape of the reels sits better when the phone is in the same orientation. It’s not bad in portrait mode, but the optimum experience is in landscape.

Cascading Reels
Whenever you land a win, the winning symbols are removed from the reels. New ones will appear, but other symbols don’t change position; the new ones just appear in the blank spaces. There are multipliers that can appear at the top of the screen above the middle 3 rows, which reset on each new spin. The multipliers only apply to wins that make it to their row, and multiple multipliers add together.
Feature Boxes
These boxes are at the bottom of the reels. They can trigger randomly and will either add to the current reel, multiply the current reel, add to all reels, or multiply all reels.

Artifacts Verdict: A Fantastic Medieval Experience
I like almost everything about Artifacts. Even the high volatility isn’t a problem for me, but that’s because I’m an experienced slot player. I can still appreciate that beginners may not enjoy the high volatility experience, but most experienced slot players will be fine with it. It has great graphics, fun bonus rounds, and a decent-sized maximum payout. It makes it a fun game from start to finish.
The theme is also excellent; the medieval theme is typically linked to fantasy elements, so it’s nice to see it being played straight here. While there are games that offer much bigger wins than the 20,000x the stake that’s on offer, it’s still a good-sized win compared to the rest of the market. If you’re looking for something that’s a little bit different, then Artifacts is well worth trying out.
