You get a 6×5 grid in the Roadquake slot, which is bigger than most online slots but understandable given its scatter pays mechanic. While it’s not exactly how Megaways slots work, the symbols paying out whenever you land at least 8 anywhere on the reels offer lots of ways to win.

The minimum stake in the Roadquake slot game is 10p, which is around the level of the best slots. It makes it accessible for lower-budget players. The top stake is lower than many new slots, at just £30 per spin, but it’s not the lowest around. However, if you’re playing from the UK, the top stake is £5. Needless to say, I had some long stretches without wins.

Roadquake Mobile Slot

The Roadquake mobile slot is superbly designed. I didn’t notice any slowdown while I was playing, and the graphics looked slick on my phone. I have a relatively new model, so it may be slightly slower on older phones, but that’s not the game’s fault. Sounds are just as crisp, though that could partly be due to the speaker quality on my device.

It works equally well in both landscape and portrait mode, although I have a slight bias towards landscape gaming. The controls are responsive, however you choose to play, but I think they’re laid out better when in landscape mode. Cascading Reels and Multipliers

Whenever you create a win, the reels will cascade. It removes old symbols and allows new ones to fall into place. On top of this, the multiplier for all squares where winning symbols increase. It starts at 0, then 1, then doubles.

The maximum multiplier for each square is 1,024x. All multipliers on subsequent wins add together. So, if you create a win with 8 squares all with a 2x multiplier, you get a 16x multiplier for your win. The multiplier value returns to 0 when your cascades end.

Modifiers

On any spin, special modifier symbols can land. Each one has a regular and hyper version, which boosts the standard modifier:

• Minigun: Chooses a symbol and turns all instances of it into another random symbol. The hyper version chooses two symbols to change
• Bomb: Increases the modifiers in a 2×2 area by 4x. The hyper version is active on a 3×3 area
• Rocket Rampage: Shoots either a horizontal or vertical rocket that removes all symbols, except scatters or modifiers, and increases the multiplier value by 2x. The hyper version adds 2 rockets

Free Spins

If you land 4 scatter symbols, you will receive 7 Free Spins. During the round, all multipliers remain in place throughout. Here is how it plays out:

• Landing 5 scatters gives you 7 Super Free Spins. It’s the same as the standard Free Spins, but all modifier symbols always award the hyper version
• Landing 6 or more scatters gives 7 Mega Free Spins. It’s the same as the Super Free Spins, but the round begins with all squares holding a 2x multiplier

Roadquake has a lot going for it, with fun features and lots of multipliers making it exciting on every spin. The only real downsides are that the RTP is very low and you can’t retrigger Free Spins.

Pros

The combination of cascading reels, increasing multipliers, and Free Spins always sounds good. Moreover, it does work well, especially when you trigger the Mega Free Spins, where multipliers can quickly grow. The 93% RTP is an issue, especially given the high volatility. This leads to long waits between wins. Being unable to retrigger Free Spins is a minor downside too, as it would be nice to get some extra rounds.

However, all these are minor issues. I really enjoyed playing Roadquake; in fact, I carried on playing for about an hour after I’d got all of the information I needed. I lost track of time and was just playing because it was fun. Anyone looking for a new slot to try should put this at the top of their list.
