Even though Tombstone Begins shows some promise, it doesn’t quite reach the level of thrills of some of its siblings. I came in with high expectations given my experience with its forerunners, but while I won’t say I was outright disappointed, I expected more.
Part of that comes to the visuals, which look a bit more laid-back than the usual formula. Plus, the gameplay isn’t as rewarding as the 300,000x and 500,000x the bet we’ve seen in RIP and Slaughter. Nonetheless, I like the introduction of the 3 bonus rounds, clearly taking inspiration from Hacksaw Gaming.
Nolimit City has mastered the art of creating sequels without entirely rehashing old features—the Tombstone releases all feel fresh.
