You’d be forgiven for thinking this slot might have something to do with Elon Musk and his electric cars, but this, in fact, all about Nikola Tesla, who was best known for the design of the modern alternating current electricity supply system. The visuals are fairly basic, with the reels set in a room where the reels seem hooked up to a plethora of electrical equipment. But although it’s a simple design, it’s an effective one with the colours making it pleasing to the eye.

In terms of the soundtrack, it’s very dramatic as you spin away. It’s almost like the audio you’d come across during an important part of a film. I like it. Land the Win spins feature and day turns to night in the background, with the audio speeding up to add to the overall intensity.

On the reels, the A-J Royals make up the lower-paying symbols. These are joined but higher-paying pieces of electrical equipment. The colours align with each other, so the blue queen symbol is linked to the blue electrical device symbol if that makes sense. The purple electrical device symbol is the most lucrative, awarding 0.8, 1, 1.2 or 1.5 x the bet for 3, 4, 5 or 6 in combination.

The game’s Wild substitutes for all paying symbols. The power from this symbol draws from the Wild collection meter to the left of the reels, slowly increasing the amount of Wilds on the reels. The more collected, the more Wilds are included on the reels.

I was impressed with the Tesla’s Invention slot. I was (rightly or wrongly) expecting another run-of-the-mill game with a typical base game and your usual Free Spins feature. But I was completely wrong and probably should have expected Relax Gaming not to rest on their laurels. They always produce quality.

If anyone’s played Yggdrasil’s Nikola Tesla’s Incredible Machine, you probably knew what to expect here. But if you didn’t know who Nikola Tesla is or was, you do now. And his genius has been put into practice here to bring you exciting bonus features and max wins of 10,000 x the bet. The RTP rate is low, but we’ve come to expect that from Relax now. The bonus features are what make this game a good one. They’re slightly different from the norm, which is a good thing.

Overall, while this won’t win any awards for aesthetics, the soundtrack is good and the overall gameplay is solid. I enjoyed testing this one thoroughly, although the Wins Spins feature is pretty hard to trigger.
