The hooded Necromancer, complete with red eye, is the most lucrative standard symbol.

The soundtrack has a rather menacing quality, punctuated by clanking swords, screams and moments of Gregorian chant. It matches the visuals perfectly.

If the Ghoul Activator appears on reel 3, the Cursed Skulls open to reveal coin prizes, which are paid scatter style. These values can be boosted by a multiplier worth up to 10x.
The Skulls can also trigger the Necromancer’s Coin Toss Feature. More on this shortly. If the scatter appears during the Coin Toss, you’ll trigger the Chaos Spins once the Mystery Re-spins round ends.
Chaos Spins
Trigger the Chaos Spins via the Mystery Re-spins or by landing 3, 4 or 5 scatters. On any non-winning base game spin, the Necromancer can bang his staff to unleash 3, 4 or 5 scatters onto the reels.
You’ll then receive 8, 10 or 12 Chaos Spins. These are played on a 7-reel, 5-row machine with the middle 3×3 blocked out. Only Ghoul Activators can land there. Mystery Skulls and blanks can land in all the other positions.
Whenever a Ghoul Activator lands, the Mystery Skulls on display are revealed and paid out scatter style. The more skulls, the better the rewards. If no Ghoul lands, the Skulls remain closed and don’t pay out.
Ghoul Multipliers come with multipliers ranging from 1x to 10x. These multipliers are applied to the Mystery Skull payouts. Up to 3 multipliers can combine for even bigger payout boosts.
Each scatter that lands awards one extra Chaos Spin. A new paytable is used in this round.
Necromancer’s Coin Toss
This feature can trigger in the base game, Mystery Re-spins and Chaos Spins. A symbol is revealed from the Coin Toss. It awards a coin prize worth between 1x and 1,000x or one of the following extras:
- Monocle of Doom: Targets a coin up to 5 times, doubling its value each time.
- Soul Collector: Collects the values of all the coins on the screen and resets. This is effectively an extra spin. A new Soul Collector absorbs the old one, and another Coin Toss is made.
- Inferno Staff: The staff shoots a boost of between 1x and 50x onto all other Coins on display.
- Ghoul Tonic: The elixir adds between 1x and 9x to the Ghoul Activator’s multiplier.
Feature Buy (Not available in the UK)
Players in some jurisdictions can pay 100x to trigger the Chaos Spins. There’s also a 500x option. This triggers the Super Chaos Spins, where there’s a higher chance of landing a 1,000x Ghoul multiplier combo. These aren’t on offer to UK players.
Necromancer’s Gate Verdict: Epic Fantasy Delivers Explosive Action
Necromancer’s Gate combines stylish design with some potentially exciting features. The bonuses are quite complex compared to many online slots, and are better suited to experienced players rather than novices.
I found Chaos Spins a real mixed bag when it comes to returns. On occasion, the payout was less than 5x. At other times, closer to 500x. That’s no surprise given the high volatility.
Fantasy isn’t my usual go-to choice for slots play. I enjoyed Necromancer’s Gate, though. With its innovative gameplay and a 25,000x max win, this wizard can conjure up some magic.
