Money Train 5 Slot RTP, Details & Wager Limits
The Money Train 5 slot game uses 5 reels, 4 rows, and 40 fixed paylines. Three or more matches on consecutive reels pay left to right, starting from reel one. Relax Gaming returns to conventional line wins here, which I prefer when the bonus side is already busier than most online slots.
Bets start at just 10p and go up to £20, or £10 in Ultra Mode. UK players aged 25 or over face a £5 stake cap, dropping to £2 for those aged 18–24. Autoplay covers 10–1,000 spins or unlimited play and, like Quick Spin, is disabled for the same regulatory reasons.
The Money Train 5 RTP tops out at 96.1%, including Ultra Mode. That’s around the average mark for UK games, though still a touch shy of the highest RTP slots. Casinos can also carry 94%, 92%, 90% or 86% versions. Hit frequency comes in at 19.57%, with very high volatility.
As for the Money Train 5 max win, Standard Mode tops out at 50,000x, while Ultra doubles that to 100,000x. Relax Gaming doesn’t really spell out what else changes between the two. I’d expect Ultra to be the rougher ride. Either way, I wouldn’t get too hung up on those headline numbers. The bonus modifiers are where the bigger jumps are more likely to come from.
Money Train 5 Theme—An Armoured Train in Nuclear Ruins
The battered engine in Money Train 5 looks like it could survive just about anything outside the windows. Built into that armoured shell, the reels are boxed in by graffiti and strips of blue lighting. Beyond them, damaged towers fade into a yellow-grey haze, pretty much the complete opposite of the picturesque railway journey in 4TP Railroad Robbery. I quite like that, actually. The train itself does most of the visual heavy lifting.
The bonus switches to orange skies and purple lighting, while the smoke gets heavier the further the train goes. A lot of new online slots just give the bonus a different colour scheme and leave it at that. Here, the scenery changes with the journey, much more my sort of thing. Alarms and gunfire accompany the mechanical train sounds; even feature play has its own music.
Then, when it comes to the paytable, you’ve got bright card suits at the lower end, which break up all that dark metal quite nicely. Above them are the more distinctive character symbols, including the Blonde Gunslinger, Skull-Faced Soldier, Armoured Raider and Cyborg Cowboy. The Wild handles substitutions, while the Nuclear Bomb and Ticket Master are tied to the bonus mechanics.
Here’s how the symbols pay and function when playing at UK online casinos:
| Symbol | Payouts/Info |
|---|---|
Diamond | 3, 4, or 5 = 0.2, 0.7, or 3x the stake |
Club | 3, 4, or 5 = 0.2, 0.7, or 3.5x the stake |
Heart | 3, 4, or 5 = 0.2, 1, or 4x the stake |
Spade | 3, 4, or 5 = 0.2, 1, or 5x the stake |
Blonde Gunslinger | 3, 4, or 5 = 0.5, 2, or 8x the stake |
Skull-Faced Soldier | 3, 4, or 5 = 0.5, 2.5, or 9x the stake |
Armoured Raider | 3, 4, or 5 = 0.6, 3, or 10x the stake |
Cyborg Cowboy | 3, 4, or 5 = 0.8, 4, or 20x the stake |
Wild | 3, 4, or 5 = 0.8, 4, or 20x the stake; Substitutes except Bonus symbols |
Bonus | 3+ anywhere trigger 3 Free Spins |
Nuclear Bomb | 3, 4, or 5 = 0.8, 4, or 20x the stake; Expands into a Wild reel when winning |
Money Train 5 Mobile Slot
I had a great time playing Money Train 5 at mobile casinos. Relax Gaming has done a superb job, although I can’t say that came as much of a surprise from a provider so regularly associated with the best online slots. Both portrait and landscape work nicely, but I preferred the latter. For anyone right-handed like myself, having the main controls over on that side feels somewhat more natural. You also get a better view of the whole train when it starts moving, whereas portrait mostly focuses on the reels.
Money Train 5 Bonus Features
Playing at Money Train 5 casinos will provide three main feature groups. Nuclear Wilds expand, and Free Spins work through stations. The paid modes then change how you get into the bonus. Standard and Ultra follow the same basic setup, whereas Super starts you further down the track before the first bonus spin even begins.
Nuclear Wild
Crosshairs target up to five reels and plant Nuclear Bombs. A bomb in a winning combination detonates into a full-reel Wild and covers four positions. Wild substitution applies to regular paying symbols, not Bonus symbols.
Free Spins Bonus Round
3+ Bonus symbols anywhere start three Free Spins from Station 0. The triggering icons reveal 1x to 10x your bet, and every new one that drops tops the counter back up.
From there, the train journey becomes the whole point of the bonus. Tickets shift the reels 1 to 5 steps from right to left. Each column pushed off the edge adds its total value to the win and sends the train on by one station. Ticket effects always go last.
The following milestones change what can appear:
- Station 5 unlocks Persistent symbols
- Station 10 adds an extra row
- Station 15 brings Bomber and Pyromancer into play
- Station 20 activates the Permanent Payer
From Station 5, Collector, Payer, Sniper, Collector Payer, Necromancer, Arms Dealer and Bomber may also appear as Persistent versions. These repeat their effect on every new spin.
- Collector takes every visible value and adds the lot to its own.
- Payer adds its amount to all other visible symbols.
- Sniper doubles the values of 3 to 8 targets and can strike the same one several times.
- Absorber removes all normal Bonus symbols from the reels, while special icons are left alone.
- Arms Dealer converts 1 to 4 Bonus symbols into feature icons, which then perform their actions.
- Collector Payer chooses 3 to 5 targets, adds their values to its own, then pays that updated amount back onto each selected position.
- Necromancer brings back 1 or 2 already-used non-persistent effects.
- Bomber and Pyromancer unlock at Station 15. Bomber multiplies every visible value by 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x, while Pyromancer creates a Hot Zone where qualifying feature icons turn Persistent and Bonus values entering that area are doubled. Persistent effects then repeat on every new spin.
- Permanent Payer arrives at Station 20. Only Payer and Persistent Payer increase its value, and only their first effect counts. Versions created by Necromancer or Arms Dealer don’t qualify.
- Ticket Master adds the current total win to every other visible symbol and always applies a +1 Ticket. If it contributes to triggering Super Free Spins, the train starts at Station 15 before the first spin.
Super Charge And Bet Options (Not Available at UK Online Casinos)
Direct purchases cost the following multiples of the base stake:
- Bonus: 100x for Free Spins
- Ultra Bonus: 250x for Ultra Free Spins
- Super Bonus: 500x, starting at Station 15
- Ultra Super Bonus: 2,000x, also starting at Station 15
All four buys use a 96.5% RTP. Bonus Reels cost 10x per spin, or 25x in Ultra Mode, with only Bonus symbols and blanks appearing to raise the chance of bonus entry.
A separate 50%-extra bet (labelled as Enhanced Spin) more than doubles the relevant Free Spins trigger chance. It uses 96.1% RTP, as do both Bonus Reels modes.
Money Train 5 Verdict: The Moving Grid Pays Off
The station system gives this sequel something of its own, but there’s a fair bit to get your head around before all those interactions start making sense.
Money Train 5 does enough with the travelling grid to avoid looking like another rinse-and-repeat sequel. Relax Gaming has, however, cut the headline prize from Money Train 4’s 150,000x to 100,000x here. Watching valuable reels disappear off the side and cash out as the train pushes on gives the bonus a much different rhythm from a static cash collection.
I also like the return to plain old paylines between features. It gives the base game something simple to fall back on before the bonus starts throwing rules around. There’s still a fair bit to learn, and the very high volatility probably won’t suit anyone chasing regular little wins. I’d try the Money Train 5 demo first before putting a few quid on it.
