There’s a classical feel to the design of the Medusa™ slot. Flanked by columned buildings, the marble-style reels are filled with symbols that relate to the ancient Greek theme.

Based on the snake-haired gorgon who has venomous snakes in place of hair, there’s a slightly soft-focus look to Medusa, which is actually rather creepy. There’s a similar feel to the brooding, choral soundtrack, which has an air of menace about it. The sound effects are quite dramatic, with deep voices and rattlesnakes startling you after every spin. It really helped the overall spooky feel.

The imagery isn’t the sharpest you’ll see, but it’s fair to say that it also doesn’t fall into the category of new slots online, as it was released back in April 2012. It has since been revamped by NextGen Gaming using High-Definition graphics, but it retains the charms of the original game.

When it comes to symbols, you will see a dagger, grapes, a vase, sandals, earrings, a serpent, a bronze coin, and a battle scene (in order of value). The Acropolis-style building is the most rewarding symbol, and Medusa is the Wild symbol.

As one of the all-time favourites, the Medusa™ slot offers a great selection of bonus features, a high max win, and it also looks and sounds great. The RTP is a bit low, but it doesn’t take away from the overall top-notch gameplay.

What we liked

This re-telling of the classic Greek myth combines some decent design with some top bonus features. Put that together, and you have a pretty solid package, especially if you like your action to be fairly volatile.

The base game 10,675x max win and the bonus game 53,375x max win are very attractive, and the many opportunities for wins throughout the game make it one of my top choices.

In the mythical tale, you really didn’t want to catch the Gorgon’s eye. In this instance, though, she is definitely worth a look.
