In Le Prechaun™, Hacksaw Gaming keeps the familiar 6×5 cluster-paying grid from previous titles in the series. Wins are created by connecting 5 or more matching symbols horizontally or vertically.
Bet levels go from as low as 5p up to £50 per spin (capped at £5 for UK players). The range isn’t quite as accommodating for high rollers as many new online slots around. Moreover, as per UKGC regulations, the autoplay and turbo modes are disabled at UK online casinos.
On the technical side, the default Le Prechaun™ RTP is 96.28%, with lower variants as low as 86.31% also widely available. It has medium–high volatility, rated 3 out of 5, and a hit frequency of 37.8%. It means wins will hit roughly on the third spin on average.

I’m quite surprised that Hacksaw didn’t release the Le Prechaun™ slot game ahead of St. Patrick’s Day and instead waited until July. Fans of the series might have already clocked from the title that our raccoon buddy, Smokey, is off on a Celtic adventure. Sadly, he still doesn’t have a smile on his face.
The wooden grid sits beneath a tree with falling clover, and Smokey retains his familiar spot beside it. This time, he dresses as a leprechaun in a three-piece suit, complete with a green top hat and matching shoes.
Irish slot clichés like pots of gold, toadstools, and a rainbow also make an appearance in the scene. What’s more, the soundtrack is entertaining; you might even catch yourself tapping your foot like me to the jaunty flute tune. It certainly heightens the excitement at Le Prechaun™ casinos.

Le Prechaun™ Mobile Slot
Given Hacksaw’s reputation in the industry, my expectations were high playing Le Prechaun™ on mobile casinos, and it didn’t disappoint. It’s well optimised for mobile, retaining the lighthearted atmosphere while keeping the controls within thumb’s reach.
Since there isn’t much going on in the background, I didn’t feel like I was missing out on much visual action in portrait mode. But in the bonus round, I’d suggest you switch your mobile over to landscape mode.
Le Prechaun™ Bonus Features
Le Prechaun™ comes with a lineup of solid bonus features you’ll find across some of the best online slots. They include doubling multipliers, sticky frames, special symbols, and a trio of free spins rounds.
Cascading Reels
Whenever you land a win, the winning symbols explode from the reels, allowing new ones from above to cascade into vacant positions. The process continues until no new winning combination is formed. Fans of Megaways slots will already be familiar with how the Cascading Reels mechanic works.
Position Multipliers
Each time a wild completes a win, the wild’s position will get a 2x multiplier frame. The multiplier applies to the potential payout of wins that land in that position.
In a case where a winning combination lands on multiple positions with multipliers, the multiplier values are first multiplied before they apply to the win. Better yet, each time a Wild lands in a framed position, the multiplier doubles, capping at 100x.
Note that the Position Multiplier disappears after a chain of cascading wins.
Golden Squares and Special Symbols
Whenever a win hits, the positions of the winning symbols will be highlighted as Golden Squares. The frames remain in position as long as a winning combination hits, but they are inactive until a Rainbow symbol appears anywhere on the reels. After which they reveal special symbols.
There’s also an Epic Rainbow symbol that reveals special symbols in all positions on the grid whenever it appears. I’ll discuss what these special symbols offer in the next sections.
Coins
The revealed coins from Golden Squares hold the following values:
- Bronze Coins: 0.2x, 0.4, 1x, 2x, 3x, or 4x the bet.
- Silver Coins: 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x, or 10x the bet.
- Gold Coins: 20x, 30x, 40x, or 50x the bet.
- Diamond Coins: 100x, 150x, 250x, or 500x the bet.
If a Coin lands on a position with a multiplier, the value applies to it.
Clover
The Green Clover symbol comes with a multiplier value of 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, or 20x. The value displayed applies to all other special symbols on adjacent squares.
The Gold Clover symbol works just like the Green one, but its multiplier value applies to all other special symbols on the reels, not just those on adjacent positions.
Bag of Gold and Pot of Gold
The Bag of Gold and Pot of Gold symbols work similarly. They collect the values of Coins and other activated Bag of Gold and Pot of Gold symbols on Golden Squares and store the total.
However, while Bag of Gold only collects values of special symbols on adjacent 3×3 squares, Pot of Gold collects the values of all special symbols on the reels. If the Bag of Gold or Pot of Gold appears on a framed multiplier position, the multiplier applies to the stored total.
Once the special symbols are collected, the Golden Squares reveal another set of special symbols. However, the stored values on the Pot of Gold or Bag of Gold symbols can’t be collected.
Bonus Games
As with most regular online casino slots, landing 3 or more scatters during the base game triggers the bonus round. Hacksaw Gaming sticks with its signature trio of bonus games. Each round offers 10 free spins regardless of the number of scatters in the triggering spin.
In 500 spins during my Le prechaun™ review, I was lucky to trigger the bonus round (Arc Adventure) thrice. The first came in as early as my 20th spin. Sadly, my top pay didn’t exceed 100x my bet, and I couldn’t make it to Level 3 on the Lucky Charm Bar.
Arc Adventure
The Arc Adventure bonus round is activated by landing 3 scatters. Here, all Golden Squares in view remain in place until either of the Rainbow symbols activates them. On top of that, Position Multipliers remain sticky until the end of the bonus round.
It features a progressive Lucky Charm Bar outside the grid that increases by 1 step whenever a scatter appears. A new level is unlocked on the fifth scatter that lands, and here’s what each level offers:
- Level 1 awards 5 additional free spins and guarantees 2 Position Multipliers are added to the reels.
- Level 2 awards 5 additional free spins and guarantees 3 Position Multipliers are added to the reels.
- Level 3 awards 5 additional free spins and guarantees 1 Rainbow symbol will land on subsequent spins.
Clover the Top
Landing 4 scatters triggers the Clover the Top bonus round. In addition to maintaining the Arc Adventure round’s mechanics, the Golden Squares will remain highlighted on the reels even after being activated by Rainbow symbols.
If an Epic Rainbow symbol appears, only the highlighted squares before the spin will remain sticky after the full grid activation.
Shamrock ‘N’ Roll
5 scatters trigger the Shamrock ‘N’ Roll bonus round. It keeps the mechanics of the other bonus games, with the main addition being that the round starts at level 3 and stays at that level until the end of the round. As a result, scatters can’t appear here.
Additionally, all Coins that land on the reels have a minimum value of 1x the bet.
Buy Bonus (Unavailable in the UK)
You can take advantage of the Buy Bonus feature to enhance your chances of triggering the bonus rounds or move directly into it. Here are the available options:
- 3x the bet: increases your chances of triggering a bonus by 5x.
- 75x the bet: guarantees that either a Rainbow or Epic Rainbow symbol will appear on each spin. Plus, Coin values can’t be less than 1x the bet.
- 500x the bet: guarantees that the Epic Rainbow symbol hits on each spin. Coin values can’t be less than 1x the bet.
- 60x the bet: guarantees the Arc Adventure bonus round is triggered.
- 250x the bet: guarantees the Clover the Top bonus round is triggered.
Le Prechaun™ Verdict: Stunning Visuals, but the Gameplay isn’t so Unique
Le Prechaun™ is a fun slot, but the gameplay doesn’t deliver much freshness.
After cosplaying a Cowboy, Fisherman, Digger, and even Santa, it was just a matter of time before Smokey landed in the Emerald Isle. Much like its prequels, Le Prechaun™’s visuals are playful and easy on the senses.
However, the visuals’ freshness doesn’t extend to the gameplay, which feels more like a rehash of Le Fisherman™. From the Golden Squares to the special symbols, nothing has changed. Even the 15,000x the bet max win is unchanged.
On the brighter side, the Position Multiplier is an impressive addition. It remains sticky and doubles each time another wild lands in its position, reaching up to 100x.
Overall, Le Prechaun™ is a very playable slot, but I’d love to see some more freshness in future entries in the series.
