I’m torn with the layout and paylines for the Invictus™ slot. There’s a 5×4 grid, which I like as it opens up the reels. However, there are only 14 paylines, which is well below what other online slots offer. It’s frustrating, particularly with how many winning lines other games offer. For example, if you play Megaways slots, you’ll get thousands of paylines. It creates a win when at least 3 symbols match on a line, which is standard. 

There’s a good range of wagers available in the Invictus™ slot game. It covers between 10p and £100, which is around what’s expected from new slots. No matter what your budget is, you can play at Invictus™ casinos. You can set up autoplay or turn on turbo spins, but they’re not available at UK online casinos. 

The Invictus™ RTP is 96.24%, which is slightly above the market average. Unfortunately, you need to check slot sites for the best version, as there are RTP ranges. It can drop down to 88.27%, so it’s a vital step. While I was playing the Invictus™ demo, it was obvious that the volatility is high. There were some long waits between wins, which broke up the free slots rounds.

Invictus™ Theme—A Darker Approach to Slot Visuals

Hacksaw Gaming has tried something different with Invictus™. It’s an interesting way to do things, and it keeps dark visuals at all times. The colours are limited, but it helps as it makes things stand out on the reels. Only the higher value symbols have any colour, and they look fantastic. It’s a slick-looking game, and the graphics match the theme perfectly. 

The sounds are understated, but the music has a low-key epic feel. The reels make big noises when they land, and there’s a sharp sound for wins. It gives a good feel, helping to set the scene of Ancient Rome. Hacksaw has done a good overall job with the theme here.

The Invictus™ mobile slot is a well-designed conversion. It uses HTML5, making it a smooth transition between platforms. The visuals retain their sharpness, there’s no loss of clarity with the sound, and the controls are responsive. Any mobile casino player will have no issues with this slot.

The Invictus™ bonus features cover both the base game features and Free Spins. What’s impressive about the game is that the bonus features remain across all versions of the slot.

Pantheon Multipliers

On the left-hand side of the reels, you’ll see numbers that change on each spin. They are Pantheon Multipliers, and they become active when you create a win. They can be between 1 and 100, so they can hit high levels. There are question marks on the right side of the reel. When you create a win that uses 5 symbols, these reveal a number between 2 and 20, which then adds to the other multiplier to increase the win. All multiplier values change on every new spin.

Olympian Respins

When you land a win with high-value symbols or Wilds, it triggers an Olympian Respin. It keeps all winning symbols in place, and if any new symbols are added to the win, they also lock, and another respin is awarded. The respins continue until the win is finalised. The initial multipliers also lock in place during the feature. 

Temple of Jupiter Free Spins

Landing 3 scatter symbols awards the Temple of Jupiter Free Spins. You get 10 spins, and the chance of landing larger multipliers is increased slightly. You can add 2 or 4 extra spins to your total by landing 2 or 3 scatters. 

Immortal Gains Free Spins

If you land 4 scatters, it gives you 10 Immortal Gains Free Spins. It works the same as the previous bonus feature, but guarantees the multipliers on the left are worth at least 5.

Pursuit of Riches (Hidden Bonus)

Hitting 5 Scatters in the base game unlocks 10 free spins. This bonus game maintains the mechanics of Spin-Dependence, and additionally, 5 or more Liberty Gems appear on every spin. Like the other bonus rounds, you can retrigger 2 and 4 free spins by landing 2 and 3 Scatters, respectively.

Dominus Maximus Free Spins

Landing 5 scatters triggers 10 Dominus Maximum spins. It adds an extra multiplier to the middle reel, meaning there’s the potential for 3 multipliers to be active. The feature triggers when you land any win, and multiplies with the left-hand multiplier. It operates the same as the previous Free Spin features. 

Bonus Buy (Unavailable in the UK)

You can purchase 2 spin modifiers in Invictus™. The first costs 3x your stake and makes the bonus round 5x as likely. The second costs 50x your stake and guarantees a win with high-value symbols. You can trigger the Temple of Jupiter and Immortal Gains Free Spins for 100 and 200x your stake, respectively.

Invictus™ is an interesting slot that has some good ideas behind it. The low number of paylines is what stops it from being one of the best games on the market.

Pros

• Up to 3 multipliers in the final Free Spins
• Good base game features

Cons

• Only 14 paylines

Invictus™ has quite a lot of promise. The features are interesting and help to keep the game ticking over; the multipliers and respins really help with this. It ensures the base game provides plenty of exciting moments, even when wins are hard to come by. 

I just wish there were more paylines available—14 feels extremely low. It’s a missed opportunity by Hacksaw Gaming, as it really extends the volatility and makes the learning curve much steeper. If the slot had more paylines, it would be much higher on my list.
