Element Area and Play Area feature
To understand the Elemento slot, you have to first consider the game engine. You’ll be presented with a 9×9 game grid. The top, bottom, left and right row and columns are the Element Area. Only Element Wilds and blanks can appear in the Element area.
The 7×7 portion in the middle of the game grid is the Play Area. Regular symbols and wilds land here. If you land a cluster of matching symbols, an avalanche follows (the Avalanche feature). The successful symbols are removed from the grid and new ones replace them. Symbols in the Element Area do not form part of an avalanche.
Element Wild features
There are 4 different Element Wilds that can appear in the Element Area. These shift in a clockwise direction with each successive avalanche. When an Element Wild is part of a winning cluster, it is activated.
This in turn increases the Element Meter to the left of the reels by 1. When there are no more winning avalanches to play, any features associated to the activated Element Wilds play out in turn:
- Fire Wild feature (Fire Element Wild): between 2 and 10 extra wilds are added to random positions on the grid and a payout consideration is made. This can set off a new set of avalanches.
- X Flood feature (Water Element Wild): 9 positions in a X shape in the Play Area transform into the same matching symbol. This feature can activate twice from a single trigger, adding a pair of X shape patterns and hopefully a new winning cluster.
- Demolition feature (Earth Element Wild): 1 low value symbol is picked at random. All examples of this symbol are removed from the grid and a new avalanche takes place. Up to 4 symbols can be removed from a single Demolition trigger.
- Tornado feature (Wind Element Wild): here, 1 symbol is randomly chosen. 8 adjacent symbols are then removed from the grid or are all turned into the same matching symbol. You could get this feature twice from a single trigger.
Free Spins feature
The Free Spins feature triggers is you manage to activate all 4 Element Wilds during a single spin. Your reward is 5 free spins with 1 more added for each triggering Element Wild.
The free spins starts at the standard 1x payout rate. Each avalanche win increases that multiplier by 1. All cluster wins are boosted by the multiplier. That multiplier can reach a maximum of 99x. Retriggers are possible here too by activating all 4 Element Wilds at least once during a free spin. There’s no limit to the number of free spins.
In some countries, you’ll have the opportunity to buy the free spins feature. The fee is 60 x your total stake. More importantly, the RTP increases to 97.94%. Due to regulations from the Gambling Commission, this option isn’t available in the UK.
Elemento Review Summary – brilliant from Fantasma Games
If you fancy playing a game that offers something unusual, then the Elemento slot certainly fits the bill. This is about as far removed as a classic fruit machine as you’ll get. It does feel a little like Reactoonz from Play ‘n GO visually.
The gameplay is very unorthodox and takes a little getting used to so I really recommend trying it out in free play mode if you can. Yes, it’s complicated. It can deliver some good action though.
The key to big wins is from the increasing multiplier in the free spins. The variance is high though so you need patience and luck. I can see this game becoming as popular as Jammin’ Jars (Push Gaming) which can only be a good thing.
