Pirots 4 introduces us to a cartoon-style sci-fi world, with a metal-framed grid floating in deep space. You’re probably wondering how the parrots from the fan-favourite Pirots series ended up here. Turns out, a cosmic beast burst out of a black hole and made off with their treasure. So, naturally, the birds suited up, and now you’re helping them hunt it down somewhere between alien gear and the edge of the galaxy.

The audio is mostly light and spacey, but what I really loved were the bird calls mixed in with the occasional monster noises.

Each symbol ties back to one of the four birds. The latter sit at the top of each set, paying the most, and the gems round out the lower end.

Pirots 4 Mobile Slot

Like all its predecessors, Pirots 4 runs exceptionally well on mobile casinos. That kind of performance has become a bit of a signature for Elk Studios. I loaded it on an iPhone 15, and the animations held rock steady through long chains. 

When playing in portrait mode, a lot of the background gets cut off, so what you’re left with is just the reels. However, the symbols are big and easy to spot, and the menu buttons are spaced out well. Switch to landscape if you want it to look more like the desktop version, though it feels like the layout wasn’t fully tightened up to fit the smaller widescreen. 

Pirots 4 Bonus Features

Before playing, there’s a lot you’ve got to wrap your head around first. From the collection meter, Switcheroo, and Power Clash to corner bombs and feature triggers, there are many bonus features.

Symbol Collection Meter

Above the grid, there is a symbol collection meter that tracks the gems, and Wilds picked up by any of the four birds. It fills up as long as they can keep collecting but pauses during the Alien Invasion feature and ignores the Space Bandit.

When full, it adds one pending feature symbol release. Note that up to three can be stored, and they’re all triggered at once.

Corner Bombs

Corner bombs sit in each inner corner of the grid and are assigned a random bird colour. If a bird collects a symbol on top of a same-coloured bomb, it goes off once no more symbols can be collected.

It clears all birds and all gems in a 3×3 area starting from that corner and removes the connected space station section. This expands the grid up to a maximum of 8 rows by 8 columns. Symbols then fall down to fill empty spots, and the birds return.

The space station around the grid has four tunnel sections. When a corner bomb removes one, it opens a path. A bird can move through that if it can collect the symbols at both ends. And as it passes, it can pick up to two feature symbols from that section.

Feature Symbols

A feature symbol release takes place right before a corner bomb goes off. This is at the start of the first free drop in the bonus round, or when no more symbols can be collected. When a feature symbol release triggers, random gems are turned into special symbols, including:

• Bonus / Super Bonus—Triggers the bonus game or a super version
• Wild—Substitutes for any gem at its current payout level. Birds can’t collect symbols on Wilds. If they land on one, they’ll move to the next empty spot
• Coins—Pays out its value times the active bet level. The MAX WIN coin instantly fills the gap to reach the maximum win
• Upgrade—Boosts the payout level of matching-coloured gems by 1, 2, or 3 steps, up to level 7
• Upgrade All—Increases payout level of all four gem types by 1, 2, or 3 levels
• Transform—Changes nearby gems into the same colour as the bird that collected them, and may also turn some into feature symbols
• Spacecorn—Fills empty gaps with Spacecorn, letting birds cross spaces once to reach more symbols
• Black Hole—Activates the Black Hole feature and pulls in surrounding symbols and up to three birds, then shuffles and tosses them back onto the grid in new positions
• Alien Invasion—Stays on hold until the birds can’t collect anything else. The Space Bandit kicks in and collects symbols one column at a time in random order

Alien Invasion

During Alien Invasion, the Space Bandit collects columns of symbols at random. It picks up almost everything—except Black Hole, Transform symbols, and Spacecorn—which it discards. If it grabs a symbol on a corner bomb, the bomb detonates, clearing space before the next refill. 

When the Space Bandit tries to grab a bird, a space duel kicks off. If it wins, the bird is removed, the Bandit’s multiplier increases, and it continues collecting symbols. If the bird wins, the Alien Invasion ends, and the win total gets multiplied.

Lost in Space

The Lost in Space coin game starts when all collectable symbols are cleared during the Spacecorn effect. It launches immediately on a separate 8×8 grid with one bird in each corner and gives you 3 drops. Each one can land coins or bridges, and every time at least one of those appears, the count resets to 3.

Once there are no spins left, birds begin collecting. They can grab adjacent coins or use nearby bridges to reach more. If birds are linked by the same coin group, collected values are shared. Then, when all coins are gathered, or no moves remain, the total value is paid out.

Charlie’s Extra Chance

Charlie’s extra chance triggers randomly when no more symbols can be collected. It sets off 1–4 corner bombs simultaneously, clears the grid around them, causes the birds to leave, and then refills the empty spaces with new symbols before the birds return.

Switcheroo

Switcheroo is a random feature that can trigger when two adjacent birds are stuck and can’t collect any more symbols. They either swap places or one jumps to the grid’s edge or next collectable symbol, helping restart movement without counting removed gems toward collection.

Power Clash

Power Clash triggers when 3+ birds are stuck next to each other with no symbols left to collect. They all crash into one point, clearing a 5×5 gem area. Then, they fly off in different directions, collecting or triggering any feature symbols along their path, such as bombs or coins.

Note: Gems cleared this way don’t add to the collection meter.

Bonus Game

When birds collect three scatters, the bonus game triggers and you’re awarded 5 free drops. If one of the symbols is a Super Bonus, it triggers the Super Bonus Game instead. This starts on an 8×8 grid with all gems upgraded. Any pending feature activates on the first free drop.

This one’s no walk in the park, so if you’re after slow-paced and traditional slots, you’re better off elsewhere. Pirots 4 might just feel like sensory overload. Therefore, if you like chaos and a grid that’s continuously shifting, there’s a lot here for you to dig into.

Pirots 4 is heavy on mechanics and light on traditional spins. Particularly, it sticks with the CollectR™ system that defines the series. And while the core’s unchanged—birds collect, upgrade, trigger symbols—there’s more going on around the edges this time, including bombs, portals, and alien interruptions. 

The math is on the tight side with a 94% RTP, and while the 10,000x win cap hasn’t moved an inch since the first release, it’s still more than decent. The visuals are smooth, too, with a rhythm that rarely lets up. If you’re the type who likes slots that keep you on your toes, Pirots 4 gives you plenty to work with.
