Volcano Eruption Extreme is basically a modern version of Volcano Eruption and looks a lot better than its predecessor. The first thing you’ll notice is the thumping soundtrack which intensifies when you get consecutive wins as the pace of the gameplay increases.
Set against a backdrop featuring a simmering volcano, you are taken to the tropical islands in the South Pacific where the volcano sits along the perilous Ring of Fire. Symbols on the reels include lava filled A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9 playing cards as well as Kumquat (fruit) bunches, spider monkeys, parrots and tegu lizards – the latter is the most valuable with 5 on a payline giving you 20 times your stake.
The erupting volcano is the wild symbol and appears only on the 3 middle reels (i.e. reels 2, 3 and 4) – it substitutes for all symbols more importantly. When 3 erupting volcano wilds appear simultaneously on the reels, you will trigger the Eruption feature.
As well as a prize of 5 times your stake, you will get 5 free re-spins. The middle reel (reel 3) transforms into an expanded wild (i.e. wild reel) which is then held is place for the 5 re-spins. Now, hot lava wilds will rain down onto the reels meaning that wild symbols can appear on reels 2 and 4 – you could theoretically get 3 wild reels on each of the re-spins.
Volcano Eruption Extreme is a new version of the original and is much better graphically – the soundtrack is also superb. Variance wise it’s in the middle with maximum wins of 1,166 times your stake in the base game.
