Before you start spinning, there is a nice intro that shows you’re about to go into battle. The reels are set in front of what looks like a temple or at least 2 pillars. There are gladiators or fighters on either side of the reels too, with traditional audio playing as you spin away.
Land the Free Spins feature and the battle will commence with the words ‘Sparta will Burn’. Sound ominous. Elephants appear behind the reels and the audio changes to be more suspenseful, although still very traditional in terms of the instruments used.

In all honesty, I was a little bored in the base game as there wasn’t much going on. I think it’s fair to say that you need to trigger the bonus feature before things start taking a turn for the better.
The Free Spins feature is where the main action is, and you will have to wait until the 10th free spins in most cases for things to heat up. The first 9 seem to be a build-up to the final spin.
