Visually, The Heat is On has cartoon-style graphics – symbols on the reels including regular playing cards (A, K, Q, J and 10) as well as bombs, motorcycles, police cars, helicopters and suitcases full of gold bullions. The latter is the most lucrative symbol giving you 2,250 coins (or 45 times your stake) for 5 on a payline.

The game comes with 2 wild symbols which are represented by 1 policewoman and 1 thief – both are rather attractive and buxom. They both substitute for all symbols (except the other wild and scatter) and pay out 10,000 coins (200 times your stake) for 5 on a payline. If you get a combination of both wilds in a payline, the maximum payout for 5 mixed wilds is still a decent 5,000 coins (or 100 times your stake).

The scatter is the bank with 7 of them giving you 1,500 coins (or 30 times your stake). If you get 3, 4 or 5 scatters on adjacent reels starting from reel 1 (i.e. 1, 2 and 3), you will trigger the Free Spins feature and receive 5, 10 or 20 free spins respectively.

Now, if you have 2 scatters on reel 2 or on reel 3, your free spins number will be doubled giving you 40 free spins. If you have 2 scatters on both reel 2 and reel 3, the number of free spins awarded with be quadrupled giving you a whopping 80 free spins. The Heat is On looks good and has a decent Free Spins feature – apart from that, it’s quite an ordinary game in reality. Saying that, the wilds are rewarding. I found it to be a medium variance offering which is a decent addition to the Microgaming portfolio. However, I would rather play classics such as Immortal Romance and Jurassic Park which have better graphics and far superior bonus features.
