The design in Sugar ‘n’ Spice Hummin’ is in your face and extremely bright – the purple reels include lower value A to 9 playing cards as well as a selection of frogs, lizards, toucans and birds. The big cat is the top standard symbol, paying 1,000 coins for a 5 in a row combo.
The hummin’ bird is the wild – it doesn’t offer any pays in its own right but replaces everything apart from the scatter. The volcano is the scatter. Land 3, 4 or 5 of them and you’ll pocket a payout equal to 1, 5 or 50 times your total stake. You’ll also trigger the Free Games feature.
Things are a little different from usual here – before the feature begins, 2 special reels will spin. The first reels will determine how many free spins you’ll get – this can be 3, 5, 8 or 10 free spins. The second reel will decide how many ‘Flower’ reels are in play.
All flower symbols that land transform into the same matching symbol. During the feature, between 1 and 4 reels can be filled with flowers. Land a heavy complement of flowers and a high value symbol as the transformer and some hefty rewards are possible here.
It’s worth noting here that the paytable in the Free Games feature is different to the base game. Land 5 of the big cat and you’ll get 200 rather than 1,000 coins. You can of course land big clusters here thanks to the matching flower symbols. Don’t get too carried away and expect the base game figures though.
Sugar ‘n’ Spice Hummin’ is probably the worst title for a slot we’ve ever seen. It’s not the just the title that left us underwhelmed though – the visuals are quite crudely done and the soundtrack is generic. The free spins round is decent enough thanks to the transforming symbols. Even that didn’t really get the blood flowing though.
We found Sugar ‘n’ Spice Hummin’ to be a disappointing slot. Even Ainsworth fans will find plenty of more interesting alternatives elsewhere – such as King Chameleon and Big Thunder King Strike.
