Space Wars Slot RTP, Details & Wager Limits
The Space Wars slot comes with 5 reels, 4 rows and 40 fixed paylines. 3, 4 or 5 identical symbols appearing across a payline, on adjacent reels and starting from reel 1, will constitute a winning combination.
Stakes range from 40p to £200 a spin. Being an older NetEnt slot, adjusting your bet is not as straightforward as newer releases. You have a Level section with 1-5 available. Then you have a Coin Value section which ranges from 0.01 up to 0.5. Adjust these sections to change your overall stake.
In the bottom left-hand corner (on the desktop version), there’s a Spanner icon which opens up the game settings. There’s a Quick Spin option for faster spins. Next to the main ‘Spin’ button is an Auto Play button. This allows between 10 and 1,000 autospins. Both these functions are not available in the UK.
The Space Wars RTP is 96.75% which is very high compared to the 96% slots average. 19.6% is reserved for the base game with 77.15% for the re-spins. The volatility is the middle but the hit frequency rate is 16.38%. This means you’ll land a winning combination in 6.1 spins on average.
When it comes to payouts, the maximum win is 1,000 x your total stake. This can be won by filling the reels with the highest value symbol.
Theme – join the battle for extensive control
With a space/alien theme, the Space Wars slot is one of NetEnt’s older games being released back in April 2013. Set deep in outer space, the story is that idiosyncratic extra-terrestrial creatures are battling to win and be cloned on the reels. Graphically, it reminds me a little of Pixar’s Monsters, Inc film.
With a huge planet in the backdrop as well as meteors, stars and dust clouds, the symbols appear on see-through reels with the aliens floating in position. The soundtrack is synthesised and has a hint of Doctor Who about it. To the right of the reels is the Cloning Pod.
On the reels, symbols are represented by 5 extra-terrestrial species. You have 5 baby low value aliens as well as 5 higher value aliens (1 low and 1 high of each species). The better paying aliens are called Brute, Hot Lips, Big Mouth, Tiny and Squid. by the way, Brute appears in the Superstars slot where NetEnt’s most iconic characters unite for a huge party.
The best paying symbol is the red gem. 3, 4 or 5 in combination will pay 0.75, 6.25 or 25 x your total stake. All symbols can appear stacked in both the base game and re-spins. The is also a wild symbol that can only appear on reels 2 and 4. Naturally, it substitutes for all symbols. There is no scatter.

Space Wars Mobile
Despite Space Wars being released in 2013, NetEnt revamped the game in February 2018 using HTML5 technology. This means you can play the game on mobile and tablet devices (iOS and Android) as well as laptops and PCs.
Space Wars Bonus Features
The Space Wars slot has just 1 bonus feature. Every win gives you a re-spin with winning symbols cloned and added back onto the reels for a chance of a bigger win.
Re-Spin feature
The Re-Spin feature is triggered when you land a winning combination. The winning symbols are transferred to the Cloning Pod which then propels them into battle. The Cloning Pod looks a little like a baby’s bottle). The cloned army of winning symbols can then appear on the reels for your re-spin.
This increases your chances of filling the reels with the same alien symbol. Here’s what a screen full of the higher value aliens will pay:
| Red Gem | 1,000 x stake |
| Squid | 400 x stake |
| Tiny | 200 x stake |
| Big Mouth | 175 x stake |
| Hot Lips | 150 x stake |
| Brute | 125 x stake |
Space Wars Review Summary – cutesy, alien fun
The Space Wars slot is a bit of a cult classic. Released back in 2013, the colourful characters are still very much-loved with NetEnt releasing a sequel, Space Wars 2 PowerPoints, in 2022.
The action is fast-paced but there’s only 1 bonus feature. The key to big wins is by landing a win with a high value symbol. This can lead to a re-spin with more cloned symbols landing on the reels. Getting a screen full of the red gem will pay 1,000 x stake which is decent. It’s a pity there are no free spins or other features.
Truth be told, Space Wars is showing it’s age with much better slots available these days. Games like Reactoonz (Play ‘n GO) and Space Miners (Relax Gaming) offer similar graphics/visuals but with much better win potential (4,570 and 50,000 x stake respectively).
