Mystery Spin
A Roo symbol and a punching bag can randomly appear on any spin during the base game. If Roo breaks the punching bag, it awards a Mystery Spin. Between 6 and 10 Mystery symbols will land on random positions on the reel, revealing matching high-paying symbols as well as Wilds and Scatters.
Landing Roo and the punching bag wasn’t a problem during my playtest, but I only managed to transform it to Mystery symbols once. It revealed 6 Platypus symbols.
Respins
Trigger the Respins round by landing 6 or more Scatter bell symbols in the base game. The round uses the familiar Hold and Win mechanic, where 3 spins are initially awarded.
Scatter bells that land remain sticky on the reels and reset the spin counter to 3. Each transforms into a Roo with cash prizes between 0.25x and 10x the bet. Every new Scatter bell increases the values of the existing prizes by the initial prize displayed.
Additionally, landing a KO symbol boosts the prizes by up to 10x and resets the spin counter. After using the awarded spins, all the prizes in view are summed together and awarded.
I was fortunate to trigger the bonus round within my first 15 spins and a few more times over 150 spins. The hit frequency is quite impressive, but still, my max win was just 60.4x my stake.
Rumble Roo K.O.! Verdict: Box Your Way to Cash Rewards
Not many developers have stepped on the Australian safari, so Rumble Roo K.O.! came as a much-needed breather from cliches. Visually, I was captivated right from the jump. It will definitely stay up there as one of my favourites in recent times.
However, the gameplay doesn’t quite live up to the graphics. The base game goes steadily without much to look forward to. Even when Wild stacks and Mystery Spins attempt to ramp things up a bit, the low symbol values leave payouts disappointing.
The bonus round is where the bout takes place. It uses the familiar Hold and Win mechanic, where each sticky Scatter carries instant cash prizes of up to 10x the bet. While this isn’t the most impressive prize on the market, KO symbols can award multipliers of up to 10x on the prizes.
