Raise the Sails Slot RTP, Details & Wager Limits
Starting the Raise the Sails slot game by IGT at any UK online casino gives you a 5-reel, 3-row setup to start, with 243 ways to win. Just like in most online slots, payouts hit when matching symbols land on adjacent reels from left to right, beginning with the first one.
I changed my wager by tapping the bet settings icon under the spin button. You can choose from 12p to £12, which is not quite the usual range I’ve seen in new online slots. This, however, may depend on your preferred Raise the Sails casinos. If you’re playing outside of the UK, Auto Spin is available. It enables you to pick from 5 to 1,000 spins that run automatically. If you go that route, be sure to set a loss limit and choose a stop point for when a win hits a certain amount.
The Raise the Sails RTP sits at 95.97%. Obviously, it’s not quite up there with the highest RTP slots. It’s not terrible by any means—just a touch below the industry average. Also, be aware that there are versions of the game with RTP values of 94.03% and 92.03%. As for volatility, IGT marked the game as Casual on their scale, which represents the lowest grade.
I gave the Raise the Sails demo a try first through our free-to-play slots lineup to see what it takes to land the Raise the Sails max win of 10,000 coins. It turns out that it’s all about the Collect feature, particularly the major prize (more on that in a bit). Want something even bigger? Check out our list of online progressive slots.
Raise the Sails Theme—Sailing Into a Secret Island Hideout, Where Pirate Gold Awaits
The reels in the Raise the Sail base game are hanging from wooden posts like a makeshift sail. Behind them is a tropical jungle stretching out, with a waterfall crashing down into a lagoon. It might look like a random beach at first, but to me, it felt more like a hidden pirate cove—one of those spots you’d only stumble across with the right map in hand.
I love the way the animations tie everything together, too, with the water glistening, the torches flickering, and an occasional bird flying by. Plus, the soundscape is very upbeat. While it might get a bit repetitive after a while, the reel spins and win effects both do a pretty great job of breaking it up.
When it comes to the pay symbols, they’re super detailed and very high in quality. You’ll see them split into 2 groups. The lower-paying ones are the usual 10–A card royals, while those that pay higher stick to the pirate theme with a parrot, ship’s wheel, rum barrel, treasure map, and anchor.
On top of that, there’s a Wild, a Tiki mask, and a set of scatters, which come in the form of Pearl, Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Collect symbols. Here’s a closer look at all the symbols and what they pay for the default bet of £1.2:

Raise the Sails Mobile Slot
When playing at mobile casinos, all graphics maintain their sharpness, with properly scaled symbols and a well-optimised layout on smaller screens. I love that in portrait mode, the menu icons are still big enough to tap easily, and you get a wide view of the reels. There’s also the best view of the ocean in the background.
In the meantime, the design you get playing in horizontal view at the best online slot sites has been carried over from the desktop version. Plus, it runs just as smoothly on mobile devices since the mobile version is powered by HTML5 technology.
Raise the Sails Bonus Features
Raise the Sails has 2 main bonus features. However, despite the small number of extras, there’s still a lot to discover, from instant prize collections to expanding reels and growing ways to win.
Collect Feature
Whenever you land a Collect symbol on reel 5, it gathers all Pearl symbols that are visible on the reels at that moment. Speaking of, each Pearl landing on reels 1, 2, 3, and 4 comes with a random coin value between 10 and 400, or it can award one of the 2 jackpot prizes:
- Minor Award = 500 coins
- Major Award = 10,000 coins
Free Spins
Every time a Gold, Silver, or Bronze symbol lands in the base game, it increases its respective free spins meter for that bet level.
However, to trigger the free spins round, you need a Gold, Silver, or Bronze symbol to land on reels 1-4, along with a Collect symbol on reel 5. The number of spins you get depends on which of these special symbols appears. Also, during the free spins, the Collect symbol on reel 5 still gathers any Pearls in view.
The number of ways to win expands depending on the tier of the free spins round:
- Bronze FS: 243 ways (3×5 reels)
- Silver FS: 1,024 ways (4×5 reels)
- Gold FS: 3,125 ways (5×5 reels)
Raise the Sails Slot Verdict: Timed Collect Mechanic Meets Expanding Ways to Win
Raise the Sails might come across as simple at first—and truth be told, it kind of is. The theme is playful, and the graphics are bright and colourful. The soundtrack is upbeat, and the animations have a fun, light feel. However, there’s definitely more going on under the surface. I’m talking about the jackpot potential, which isn’t something you run into often. Moreover, it totally flips the traditional free spins game with the potential of having the reels expand up to 3,125 ways to win.
That twist alone gives you a lot to work toward, and something I picked up on is that this one isn’t quite built for rapid-fire wins. It’s actually rather designed to build momentum. Take the Collect system, for example. It only banks Pearls when the Collect symbol lands on reel 5. That kept the tension up for me, but it’s also what made the wins feel pretty unpredictable. Definitely give the demo a try and see how it plays out for you.
