Nine to Five Slot RTP, Details and Wager Limits
The Nine to Five slot comes with 5 reels, 4 rows and 1,024 ways to win. Simply land 3, 4 or 5 matching/identical symbols from left to right and beginning from the leftmost reel to land a winning combination. As always, only the highest winning combination per way to win will be awarded.
Bets-wise, you can spin away from 20p to £280 per spin. Higher than the usual £100 max bet found in most online slot games, press or click the ‘Coins’ icon to see available bet options (30). Not located in the UK? There is Autoplay which allows up to 1,000 auto spins with balance limits and Turbo Mode for faster spins.
In terms of return rates, the Nine to Five RTP is 96.03%. Above the 96% average (just), 63.08% of the RTP will be reserved for the base game with 32.95% for the bonus features. Nolimit City also offer 94.06% and 92.1% RTP versions which may be used at the casino you play at (check within the game’s Paytable).
High volatility (8/10), it’s not as brutal as other Nolimit City slots (like Tombstone RIP or Serial). The hit frequency rate is 21.97% meaning a win will form every 4.55 spins. That said, you will trigger the free spins every 237 spins on average.
Lastly, the Nine to Five slot benefits from 9,217 x bet max wins. This is known as ‘Big Win Not Found’. Whilst this isn’t as high as other NLC games, the max win probability is 1 in 148,000 spins. If you compare with The Border (by Nolimit City), the max win probability is 1 in 44 million spins. That said, winning 100 x your total bet will occur every 1,160 spins (on average).
Theme: head back to the 90s and join the RatRace organisation
With an office theme, the Nine to Five slot sees you head back to the 90s where you’re part of the RatRace organisation. Unlike other companies, their workers are a ‘family’ living the dream as they wake up to Excel spreadsheets, drink powered coffee and enjoy a cubicle with a view. That’s according to Nolimit City though.
As soon as you hear the game’s name, you’ll instantly think of Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 song. However, the graphics remind me of MTV’s Beavis and Butt-head. Influenced by the 1990s, the setting is an office cubicle where the reels appear within a desktop computer.
The soundtrack has a cheesy/Calypso feel which features the answering machine to the RatRace organisation. You’ll also dial-up internet sounds. If you’re of a certain age, it has a real nostalgic feel.
Keep an eye out for classic office phrases with a twist such as “Our opening hours are from 9 till whenever you stop calling” and “Dear customer, please note that calls may be recorded for training purposes, or extortion”.
On the reels, you will see fax machines, lunch boxes, I heart EVO (Evolution Gaming) coffee mugs and staplers. The higher-value symbols include 4 office workers with the Manager symbol paying the most. She will award a 0.75, 2 or 4 x bet payout for 3, 4 or 5 in combination.
Other symbols include a yellow ID Wild which transforms into a Green or Red Wild, xNudge Wild, xWays, and ‘Climb’ ‘The’ ‘Corporate’ ‘Ladder’ scatters. In the main bonus features, you’ll encounter Layoff, Lawsuit, Overtime, Tech Layoff and Ctrl+Alt-Del symbols. More details on these are below in the Bonus Features section.

Nine to Five Mobile
Released on the 21st of November 2023, Nine to Five is compatible with desktop, tablet and mobile devices. Despite taking you back to the 1990s, it uses HTML5 technology so will adapt to any device you use. This includes iOS and Android smartphones.
Nine to Five Bonus Features
The Nine to Five slot comes with 5 main bonus features. Offering xNudge Wilds, xWays and transforming wilds, there are 2 free spins features with a win multiplier that can reach up to 9,999x. Look out for the Mega symbol landing fully as this will award the max win instantly.
xNudge Wild, xWays & Wilds
| Symbol | Info |
|---|---|
xNudge Wild | Nudges to become fully visible with each nudge increasing win multiplier by 1 |
xWays | Reveal 2-4 symbols of same kind (increases number of ways to win) |
Yellow ID Wild | Transforms into Green or Red ID Wild |
Green ID Wild | Active wild with random multiplier up to 5x |
Red ID Wild | A dead symbol which does nothing |
The xNudge Wild symbol can only appear/land on reels 2, 3, 4 and/or 5. When landing, the xNudge Wild will always nudge to become fully visible. Each ‘nudge’ increases the win multiplier by 1. When it covers the reel fully, it will nudge an extra 0-9 steps. If multiple xNudge Wilds appear, the multipliers will multiply each other for a total xNudge multiplier.
Then you have the xWays symbol which appears on a post-it note. It reveals 2-4 symbols of the same kind which increases the number of ways to win. If more than 1 xWays symbol lands, all xWays symbols will reveal the same symbol.
Finally, there is yellow ID Wild symbol that lands on reels 2, 3, 4 and/or 5. When it lands, it will transform into:
- Green Wild: an active Wild symbol with a random multiplier ranging from 1-5x
- Red Wild: a dead symbol which does nothing
Middle Management Spins feature
The Middle Management feature is triggered when landing 3 scatter symbols on reels 2 through 5. With 10 free spins awarded, look out for Layoff and Lawsuit symbols landing. There’s also an Overtime symbol. Here is what each of them offers:
| Symbol | Info |
|---|---|
Layoff | Increases the win multiplier by 1 (up to 9,999x) |
Lawsuit | Decreases the win multiplier by 1 (never below 1x) |
Overtime | Awards +1 free spin with 2 appearing simultaneously triggering the Ivory Tower Spins |
Ivory Tower Spins feature
The Nine to Five slot also comes with an Ivory Tower Spins feature. It’s triggered by landing 4 scatters and awards 12 free spins. Now, Layoff and Lawsuit symbols are replaced by Tech Layoff and Ctrl-Alt-Del symbols:
| Symbol | Info |
|---|---|
Tech Layoff | Adds a win multiplier with value of next Tech Layoff multiplier double up to 9,999x |
Ctrl-Alt-Del | Divides the value of the next Tech Layoff by 4 (rounded down) |
Overtime | Awards 1 additional free spin each time it lands |
xBet feature
For an extra cost of 10% per spin, the xBet feature can be enabled. The last reel is blocked which increases your chances of landing a scatter. Effectively, it increases the chances of triggering the free spins features by more than 2 times.
The xBet feature has been used in plenty of Nolimit City slots including Karen Maneater and Dead Canary.
Big Win Not Found feature
Interestingly, there is a Big Win Not Found feature. If a Mega symbol lands fully stacked on the reels, you’ll be awarded the max win of 9,217 x your total bet. Fail to land it and you’ll win nothing. Pretty brutal and only for the daring (or stupid).
Nolimit Bonus feature
The Nolimit Bonus feature is available to players located outside the UK. With 4 bonus buy options, they cost between 75 and 1,370 x your total bet. Below is all the information:
| Option | Description | Cost | RTP |
| Middle Management | Entry to Middle Management Spins | 75 x bet | 96.45% |
| Ivory Tower | Entry to Ivory Tower Spins | 200 x bet | 96.17% |
| God Mode | 1 spin with Mega Symbol awarding the max win | 1,370 x bet | 96.09% |
| Lucky Draw | 60% Middle Management / 40% Ivory Tower | 125 x bet | 96.22% |
Nine to Five Verdict: Beavis and Butt-head meets The Office
If you’ve ever worked in an office in the 90s, you’ll appreciate the effort Nolimit City has made with the Nine to Five slot. Graphically, it brings back memories of Beavis and Butt-head and The Office television series (by Ricky Gervais).
That evokes the mundane nature of these types of environments which are reinforced by the dial-up internet sounds and office equipment that has become redundant these days. From an aesthetic point of view, NLC has delivered yet again with a unique take on a possibly boring subject matter.
In terms of the gameplay, yellow ID Wilds can give you nothing (Red Wild) or a Green Wild with a random multiplier up to 5x. The xNudge Wild nudges and increases the win multiplier which can give you big wins if you manage to land multiple xNudge Wilds. xWays are pretty standard these days but they do increase the number of ways and display the same symbol.
The 2 free spins features see special symbols increase or decrease the win multiplier up 9,999x. Nothing unique here. In the base game though, landing the Mega symbol fully in view will award you the max payout (9,217 x bet). If you’re a non-UK player, you can opt for the God Mode for 1,370 x bet and get 1 spin in the hope you land this illusive Mega symbol.
With 9,217 x bet max wins, Nine to Five isn’t Nolimit City’s best-paying slot by any stretch of the imagination. That said, the max win probability is 1 in 148,000 spins in the base game. This is significantly lower than other NLC games. To compare, Tombstone RIP offers a max win of 300,000 x bet that will be won every 130 million spins.
I found this game entertaining from a thematic point of view. The xBet feature represents good value as it costs 10% more per spin and more than doubles your chances of triggering a free spins feature. I would recommend this to UK players with the bonus buy options not available.
