Moon Spell Slot RTP, Details & Wager Limits
The moment I loaded up the Moon Spell slot game, I knew what I was going to get. It’s a reskin of Wolf Gold, so it instantly feels familiar. However, it makes some changes to the original, but not as bold as adding Megaways slots features.
There’s a 5×3 grid with 20 paylines, which is lower than Wolf Gold. Wins are created when at least three matching symbols land on a winning way, but the wild symbol creates wins with just two matching symbols.
The Moon Spell slot stake limits aren’t impressive. With between 10p and £10 available to wager, it’s not one of the best online slots for high rollers. The stake controls are simple to use, with plus and minus buttons ensuring it’s quick to move between sizes. I noticed an autoplay and turbo spin option, but they’re only available outside of UK online slot sites.
The Moon Spell RTP is 95.76%, so it is just below the average. It disappointed me while putting together my Moon Spell review, as it takes away some of the game’s appeal. There’s a medium to high volatility in place, which I felt instantly when spinning the reels. In my opinion, I felt it was closer to high than medium based on how my session played out.
You can claim a Moon Spell max win of up to 5,224x your stake. It’s only available in the bonus round, which is standard for most games. While playing the Moon Spell demo, I never got close to the maximum payout. My best win in the free slots version was 115x my stake, not a poor payout, but nowhere near the top win.
Theme — Magic but not Magical
The graphics are okay in Moon Spell, but nothing special. It felt familiar, but not in a positive way. The entire time I was playing I had a feeling of deja vu, as though I had seen everything before. They’re not poorly drawn, Red Tiger has obviously put the work in to make them look good. However, there’s nothing here that really stands out.
The colours are subdued, which I think is a design choice. It’s trying to create a feeling of magic. It doesn’t achieve its goal, though, as in execution, the screen feels dull. The sounds are nice, but again, they don’t blow you away when you hear them.
When you load up Moon Spell casinos, it’s certainly not a bad experience, but it’s not one that will cause you to be impressed, either.

Moon Spell Mobile
When playing the Moon Spell mobile slot, I couldn’t tell many differences between it and the desktop version. Visually, there’s no loss of quality, and it looks great on a smaller screen. The controls are simple to find, which is perfect for play at mobile casinos. It uses HTML5, like most new slots, so is compatible with most devices.
Moon Spell Bonus Features
The Moon Spell bonus features are quite limited. The slot doesn’t provide a range of extras, which will disappoint some players. Although I enjoy the hold and respin feature, I do prefer more features in games to put them amongst the best slots online.
Moon Symbols
The moon symbols are the basis for all features in Moon Spell. They first become active when three or four land on the reels. Since the moon symbols all have a value of between 0.5 and 100x your stake on them, three or four at once awards the total value. If there’s a winning line at the same time, it adds this to the total.
Hold and Respin
If you manage to land at least five moon symbols, it begins the hold and respin round. It starts by awarding three respins and locking the moon symbols in place. The reels then spin again with all symbols except moons removed.
If you land another moon symbol, it also locks in place, and your total respins resets. The round continues until the reels are full of moons or you run out of respins. At this point, it adds up the total value of your moon symbols for your payout. However, there is an additional bonus for the wins.
If you land at least 10 moons, there are additional payouts available. They are added to the value of the moons when the round ends. The extra wins are as follows:
- 10 moons – 50x your stake
- 11 moons – 100x your stake
- 12 moons – 200x your stake
- 13 moons – 300x your stake
- 14 moons – 1,000x your stake
- 15 moons – 5,000x your stake
Bonus Buy (Unavailable in the UK)
If you want to jump directly to the bonus round, you can use the bonus buy feature. It’s only available outside of the UK, and it instantly starts the hold and respin feature with five moons. To begin this round, it costs 50x your stake.
Moon Spell Verdict — Okay, But We’ve Seen It All Before
Moon Spell has fewer paylines and fewer features and doesn’t innovate on the original premise. The only area it improves on Wolf Gold is with a higher maximum win, but it’s so challenging to reach it that it doesn’t provide a huge benefit.
While it’s not a bad game, it’s also not a new game. The only reason to play Moon Spell is if you want to play Wolf Gold but with a higher payout. Otherwise, you’re best off sticking to the original.
