Collect & Multiply feature
The main attraction of Midnight Marauder is the Collect & Multiply feature. This applies in both the base game and free spins. When a winning cluster is formed, the feature comes into play. The win is collected into 1 symbol position with a re-spin awarded.
A bag then appears with a multiplier value (represented by the number of symbols in the cluster). For example, landing 7 red gemstones will see a red bag with 7x on it. During the re-spin, additional symbols can be added to the initial cluster. This is done by landing the same symbol in an adjacent position.
Furthermore, multiple clusters will lead to multiple bags appearing on the grid. This increases your chances of landing matching symbols which will lead to more re-spins. The re-spins continue until no more matching symbols appear on the grid.
If you get multiple bags of the same coloured gemstone on the grid, the multiplier values are multiplied. That total number is then subject to the symbol value. For example, landing 7 sky blue gemstones (7x) and 10 sky blue gemstones (10x) will lead to a 70x multiplier. This is applied to the symbol value (2 x bet). The overall win will be 140 x your total stake.
Free Spins feature
The Free Spins feature is triggered by landing 3 or more jewel thief bonus scatters anywhere on the grid. 3 will give you 8 free spins with 2 extra free spins for every additional scatter (i.e. 5 scatters will award 12 free spins). Once in the feature, every scatter will give you 1 additional free spin, with no limits.

Midnight Marauder Review Summary – unique grid slot that can pack quite the punch
Whilst the Midnight Marauder slot isn’t your typical grid game, Relax Gaming has tried something new in the way the main feature works. They have to be applauded for that. Graphically, it’s not the best looking title they have produced compared to the likes of Dead Man’s Trail and Beast Mode.
The way the Collect & Multiply feature works is unique but you need multiple clusters of the same symbol to get decent sized wins. That said, you need multiple clusters of the 2 higher value gemstones to win anything of note. I managed to get a 14x, 32x and 9x clusters of the highest value symbol which resulted in a 8,064 x stake win from 1 free spin.
The high volatility means that these big wins will be very hard to come by. I found the average win in the Free Spins feature to be around the 80 x bet mark. In summary, Midnight Marauder offers more than meets the eye but you need multiple clusters of the same high value symbol to win anything substantial. It could have done with 1 or 2 extra bonus features in the base game though.
