Kingdoms Rise: Guardians of the Abyss takes you underwater – symbols include 4 gemstones as well as 3 different weapons. You’ll also see 3 Guardians – Odeon, Akali and Jax. The latter is the most rewarding symbol with 3, 4 or 5 in combination giving you 8, 20 or 40 times your stake. There’s a wild symbol too that replaces all symbols except the scatter – 5 on a payline will reward you with 50 times your stake.
3 Guardian Bonus features
There are 2 different shell symbols (with a gold or silver frame) which are the scatters. When you get 3 or more, you will activate the Guardians Bonus. The 1st shell will determine which feature you’ll play with the 2nd determining how many free spins you’ll win. The 3rd scatter determines the power of the feature. If you enter the Guardians Bonus with gold frame shells, the prizes will be bigger – here’s what each feature offers you:
- Odeon feature: based on the clan leader, a random number of Odeon symbols are added to the reels on every free spin.
- Akali feature: a random number of wild symbols are added on each free spin.
- Jax feature: if a wild appears, a random multiplier is applied to it.

Like with the other Kingdoms Rise slots from Playtech, tokens can appear on symbols randomly – these are then collected. You can use them in the Kingdoms Rise Shop to buy the Wild Vortex Respins feature. A vortex containing wilds land on reels 2 through 5 throwing wilds at random positions.
The number of wilds depends on the number of game tokens you’ve used – 300, 750 or 1,500 tokens will give you 1, 2 or 3 extra wilds. The respins continue as long as there’s 1 wild symbol on the reels. These wilds shift 1 position towards the vortex with each respin – once it reaches the vortex, it’s sucked inside and removed from play.
Kingdoms Rise Jackpots
Lastly, there’s the Kingdoms Rise Jackpot feature – any of the 3 jackpots can be won randomly. The higher your stake, the better your chances of winning. The jackpots are different though:
- Daily Strike Jackpot – it will be won by the date/time shown every day
- Power Strike Jackpot – someone will win this jackpot before it reaches the shown amount
- Epic Jackpot – this can be won at any time with no limit to how high it can go

Kingdoms Rise: Guardians of the Abyss is a superb slot – obviously the Epic Jackpot can be life changing but it’s all about the Jax feature in my opinion. Getting a big multiplier here can lead to some serious wins – you can win up to 1,250 times your stake on each spin or free spin. Add in a multiplier of 6x for example and that potential win can reach 7,500 times your stake.
Medium variance, Kingdoms Rise: Guardians of the Abyss is a good slot and better than Kingdoms Rise: Forbidden Forest in my opinion. If you want high volatility though, you should play Kingdoms Rise: Sands of Fury.
