There aren’t many Goals of Olympus BoltLock™ bonus features. Instead, a single feature carries on throughout the game.
Win Respins
Whenever you create a win, the winning symbols turn into footballs. They’re then randomly sent to blocked spaces, where they unlock them. The game then awards a respin, which will unlock more spaces if it creates another win. There are 12 spaces, so 12 symbols need to be part of wins to unlock the full reel. The respins continue until no new wins land. When the respins end, the blocked spaces come back.
If you manage to remove all 12 blocked spaces, it triggers the 2x multiplier for the bonus round. Landing 5 red footballs during your respins will award an extra life. Extra lives let you continue the round if you land a respin without any wins. If you land extra blue balls during the round, it can unlock higher multipliers, boosting the size of payouts. It’s only in this round where you can get closer to the biggest wins. Once all of the extra lives run out and you land a spin with no wins, the reels reset to their original state.
Goals of Olympus BoltLock™ Verdict: A Solid Foundation With Limited Growth
The features in Goals of Olympus BoltLock™ are slightly interesting, but there’s not enough to make it a top-tier slot. The low RTP is also a downside.
When I first started playing Goal of Olympus BoltLock, I was drawn in. I like the respin feature; it feels like a fresh take on Megaways and cascading reels. The visuals are okay, but I’ve always cared more about gameplay than aesthetics. However, the mechanics quickly grew old. It’s the only focus in the game, and as it leans towards higher volatility, it’s not enough to keep things interesting over a longer session.
I certainly don’t dislike Goals of Olympus BoltLock™; I just think it needs a bit more to be a standout game. The idea behind the BoltLock system is good, but it either needs lower volatility, perhaps by adding a wild symbol or removing some of the lower-paying symbols, or it needs more features. The maximum win isn’t at a bad level, but without jaw-dropping gameplay, it’s not enough to put it into the top tier of video slots. Despite this, it’s worth a try for football fans, as there aren’t enough slots with that theme out there.
