Gates of Troy Slot RTP, Details & Wager Limits
The Gates of Troy slot is played on 5 reels, 4 rows, and has 30 fixed paylines. All wins pay from left to right on adjacent reels, starting from the leftmost reel.
Stakes range from 10p up to £30 per spin. Below the reels, you will see numerous values. You can either select one of those or use the + and – buttons to change your total bet. Autoplay is also possible in most territories outside the UK. You can set up to 100 autospins and choose to stop it using certain parameters.
The Gates of Troy RTP is 96.2%, which is pretty standard for the majority of Play’n GO slots and slightly above average. The volatility here is in the medium to high range, so you’ve got a better chance of landing big wins more frequently when compared to slots with higher variance for example.
The maximum win is 3,000 x your stake, which isn’t too bad but it’s not the best figure we’ve seen. It’s not the worst either. The Free Spins feature will be your best chance of landing the top prize due to the transforming Wilds.
Theme – can you find Troy’s riches?
The theme is the Gates of Troy slot game is all about Achillies and Helen of Troy leading the Greek soldiers inside the city wall to lead the way to victory. Everything is done really well here in terms of visuals and audio. The soundtrack is in fact quite Arabic, and I like the sound of the chains opening the gate as the reels spin.
If you’ve ever played Warcraft on the PC, you may be familiar with the sound effects as they’re identical to those you’d come across in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. They’re completely unrelated to each other, but the sound effects work just as well here as in the PC game.
On the reels, you’ve got the usual A-10 royals. These are joined by higher-paying vases and fruit bowls as well as Helen of Troy and Achillies. Helen of Troy is the most lucrative symbol, paying 5, 10 or 20 x your stake for 3, 4 or 5 in combination.
The game’s Wild is a Greek soldier, and it substitutes for all symbols except Scatter. It can also pay up to 30x and any wins with Multiplier Wilds multiply the win by the value shown on the Wild.

Gates of Troy Bonus Features
There are 2 main bonus features in the Gates of Troy slot game. First, are the guaranteed scatters, which can help you land the main bonus feature, which is the Free Spins feature. Let’s explain how it all works.
Guaranteed Scatters
This feature will randomly trigger during any base game spin. 2 Scatters will appear fixed on the reels to give you a chance of landing a 3rd and triggering the Free Spins feature.
Free Spins feature
3 or more Scatters will trigger the Free Spins feature. You will get 10 free spins and any Wilds that land will be highlighted with a fiery frame. The Wilds are then added back to the reels, so the potential to land more in future spins increases.
On the final free spin, all frames on the reels will transform into Wilds, potentially leading to some huge wins.
Gates of Troy Review Summary – promises so much but doesn’t deliver
The Gates of Troy slot promises so much at first glance. A stunning intro as the game loads had me exciting for what lies ahead. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed. The visuals and the soundtrack are great, but it’s let down by the gameplay.
The lack of bonus features is disappointing. The Free Spins feature isn’t revolutionary and there’s just not enough meat on the bone if you know what I mean. Yes, there are multiplier Wilds, which is great to see, but nothing else really appeals.
Max wins of 3,000 x your stake is nothing to write home about either when you consider that similar slots have much greater potential. Overall, the fantastic visuals and audio are somewhat let down by the basic gameplay and the underwhelming bonus features. It’s an OK slot but there are better ones out there.
For more action from Greece, check out Relax Gaming’s Helios’ Fury slot. It’s really easy to understand, the RTP is well above average, and there are huge max win possibilities of 50,000 x your stake.
Alternatively, give NetEnt’s Divine Fortune or Divine Fortune Megaways a try. Both have some great features and one comes with 38,000 x max win potential with the other offering a progressive jackpot often over £100,000.
