As an avid follower of the Gates of Olympus franchise, I thought Gates of Olympus POP would adopt the same visual style as its siblings. Even more than the grid reconfiguration, I was surprised to see a lighthearted, miniature Zeus rather than the series’ typical majestic figure.
I like that the narrow grid gives players a clearer view of Mount Olympus set among the clouds. While the charming Zeus doesn’t possess as much aura as his predecessors, he doesn’t look out of place in the setting.
The scene is eye-catching, with golden roofs and columns in the background that exude wealth. In my opinion, this title offers richer visual detail than the previous releases in the series.

Let’s say you land a total win of 40x your stake on a spin, with 2x and 3x multipliers on the reels. The multipliers are added together, bringing your payout to 200x your stake (40 x 5).

The application of multipliers takes a little twist during free spins. Whenever a multiplier symbol appears on a winning spin, it is added to the running total multiplier. If you’re lucky to hit another multiplier symbol on a winning spin, the total multiplier applies to the win.
I was lucky enough to trigger the bonus round within my first 30 spins, and again within the next 50. I hit a 15x multiplier, but even so, the payouts weren’t particularly convincing.

Gates of Olympus POP carves out its own identity in the popular series with the unconventional grid set-up and intriguing visuals, but the gameplay doesn’t quite leave a mark.
The pocket-sized Zeus in Gates of Olympus POP doesn’t look like someone who can command thunder or rule over Olympus. Jokes aside, the idea of a tiny, jolly Zeus is creative. At least it helps it stand out from its prequels, which have all recycled the same visuals.
Another thing that sets this release apart is the POP symbol. Well, it’s just another name for the Super Scatter symbol that appears in the Super Scatter version. They both offer a more straightforward route to hitting the max win, which is 25,000x the bet in this release.
Pragmatic has set the multiplier cap at 1,000x, double what we got in the predecessors (except the 1000 edition). Still, on a broader scale, there isn’t much originality to this POP version. It’s still built around cascading wins and multipliers, a formula we’ve seen countless times.
