Fugly Pets Slot RTP, Details & Wager Limits
The action in the Fugly Pets slot plays out on 5 reels, 5 rows and 3,125 ways to win. Create those winning combinations by landing 3 or matching low-value or 2 or more high-value symbols or wilds on adjacent reels, starting from reel 1.
You can join the Pets at bet levels of between 10p and £100 per spin. Use the + and – tabs next to the Spin button to adjust your stake. In some territories, Autoplay will be an option. This allows you to run between 5 and 2,500 auto spins. You can also set win and loss limits here. There’s also a Quick Spin mode. These facilities aren’t available to players in the UK.
The Fugly Pets RTP is 96% which is bang in the middle of return-to-player rates. Stakelogic has also created 95.5% and 93.8% RTP versions which may be used at various UK online casinos (check within the Paytable at your chosen casino site).
The hit frequency rate is 31.64% meaning a win is delivered every 3.16 spins on average. Variance-wise, the volatility is extremely high though, coming in at the maximum 5/5. Finally, the Fugly Pets slot can give you 5,000 x bet max wins.
Theme: embrace the unconventional charm of ugly animals
Despite this being a game based on the ugliness of pets, the design in the Fugly Pets slot is actually pretty impressive. For reference, ‘fugly’ is a combination of 2 words: f*cking and ugly. Visually, the ugly animals remind me of the Nitro gang in Nitropolis 4 (ELK Studios).
A rather grimy-looking shopfront forms the backdrop to the reels. There’s a comic-book quality to the imagery here which is nicely done. The boss-eyed collection of animals is packed full of grotesque detail.
On the reels, you’ll find A to 10 royals and 5 higher-paying animal symbols. There’s a rat called Roadkill, a lizard called Geckomole, Diego the parrot, a cat called Biscuits and a frothing pug dog who goes by the unlikely moniker of Fluffy. Fluffy is the best-paying symbol awarding a 5 x bet payout for 5 in combination.
The bashed-up teddy bear is the wild. This substitutes for all the standard symbols in a winning combination. The wild can land anywhere apart from reel 1. The food can is the bonus symbol. They’re joined by a flaming tyre which can trigger the Roadkill feature which I’ll look at below. Here’s what the symbols pay:
- 10/J/Q: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.1, 0.2 or 0.4 x bet
- K/A: 3, 4 or 5 = 0.2, 0.4 or 0.8 x bet
- Geckomole the Lizard: 2, 3, 4 or 5 = 0.1, 0.3, 0.6 or 1.2 x bet
- Roadkill the Rat: 2, 3, 4 or 5 = 0.1, 0.5, 1 or 2 x bet
- Diego the Parrot: 2, 3, 4 or 5 = 0.1, 0.6, 1.2 or 2.5 x bet
- Biscuits the Cat: 2, 3, 4 or 5 = 0.1, 0.8, 1.6 or 4 x bet
- Fluffy the Pug: 2, 3, 4 or 5 = 0.2, 1, 2 or 5 x bet
- Teddy Bear Wild: Substitutes for all paying symbols on reels 2-5
- Food Can Bonus: 3, 4 or 5 in view triggers Free Spins feature
- Flaming Tyre: Triggers the Roadkill feature
Fugly Pets Mobile
You can play Fugly Pets on tablets and smartphones as well as desktop and laptop computers. The Fugly Pets mobile version is very easy to play. The visuals impress on the small screen and there’s a top selection of extras. The game is available on iOS and Android handsets.
Fugly Pets Bonus Features
With 6 bonus features, there’s a very decent range of extras on offer in Fugly Pets, starting with the cascading reel wins. Look out too for multipliers, wild extras, colossal symbols and free spins with even more multipliers.
Cascading Reels feature
After a winning combination is created, the Cascading Reels feature comes into play. The successful symbols are removed from the game grid and new ones drop down to replace them. If a new winner is formed, the process is repeated. These cascades keep on coming until there’s one where you don’t land a winning combination.
Symbol Multiplier feature
Land a winning combination made up of 1 of the 5 high-paying animal symbols and that symbol is awarded a multiplier. The multiplier starts at 2x and then increases with each consecutive cascade. The win multiplier doubles with each successive cascade to 4x, 8x, 16x, 32x right up to a maximum of 64x. If there’s no winning cascade, the multiplier reverts to its standard 1x.
Super Symbols feature
These are special blocks of 2×2, 3×3 and 4×4 symbols which can land on any spin. They drop down to the bottom of the game grid, replacing the symbols directly below. New symbols appear above them and a new payout consideration is made.
Roadkill feature
The flaming tyre roadkill symbol can only land on reel 5. When it does, it remains inactive until a payout consideration has been made and all the cascades have taken place. It then shifts to the left and 1 of 3 things will happen to each of the symbols in its path. It will remain the same, it will be removed and a new symbol drops in or it turns into a wild. A new payout calculation then follows.
Free Spins feature
Land 3 or more Food Can Bonus symbols on the same spin to activate the Free Spins feature. 3, 4 or 5 will award 10, 12 or 15 free spins respectively.
The symbol multipliers are active during the free spins, just like in the base game. The big difference is that the symbol multipliers don’t reset to 1x following a winless cascade. Instead, they continue to rise throughout the round.
Fugly Pets Slot Verdict: the ugly pets’ charm will win you over
On first impressions, I thought it was a Nolimit City slot game when I read the name. They might not be lookers but the animals in the Fugly Pets slot deliver some pretty good action. The cascading reels and multipliers can combine to impressive effect, especially during the Free Spins feature where the symbol multipliers don’t reset following a winless cascade.
Throw the colossal symbols and the Roadkill wilds into the mix and you have a slot that delivers plenty of varied gameplay.
The downside here is the game’s extremely high volatility. Even if you do trigger the free spins, there’s no guarantee of landing a decent payout. After one trigger, I collected just 6 x my total bet. This is a high-risk slot. It can deliver large rewards with 5,000 x bet max wins.
In summary, it’s more of a mongrel than a pedigree breed but the Fugly Pets slot offers some gritty charm.
If you’re fond of animal-inspired slots, here are my suggestions:
- The Dog House Megaways: Pragmatic Play | 6 reels + up to 117,649 ways to win | 96.55% RTP | 12,305 x bet max wins
- Beach Mode: Relax Gaming | 6 reels + up to 38,416 ways to win | 96.32% RTP | 25,000 x bet max wins
