The design in Excalibur’s Choice is very basic. On the sandstone reels you’ll see medieval style A to 10 playing cards. More rewarding are the ring and crown symbols which offer payouts of 50 times your total stake if you land 5 on a line. They’re followed by the knight on horseback and the castle which pay up to 75 and 200 times your stake.
The most rewarding symbol is king Arthur. Land 2, 3, 4 or 5 of these and you can look forward to an award equal to 1, 10,100 or 500 times your stake. The famous sword Excalibur is the wild, replacing all other symbols bar. The wild also offers payouts of 2, 20 or 200 times your stake in its own right.
Landing 3, 4 or 5 scatters on the same spin also triggers the game’s Free Games feature – on offer here are 10 free spins. Before the feature begins, 1 symbol is picked at random. Whenever it hits, it will expand and fill the whole of that reel. These expanding symbols don’t need to be adjacent to each other to create a winning line. Re-triggers are possible here too.
That’s your lot as far as features go. Excalibur’s Choice is a very straightforward game. The design looks rather old fashioned in comparison to many recent releases. The gameplay is similarly stripped back.
The positives are that the payouts are pretty good if you land a 5 in a row winner and that the Free Games feature offers some decent potential if you manage to get a high value symbol as the expander – to the tune of 500 times your stake per free spin.
There’s nothing on offer here that we haven’t seen in many other slots. The sound and visuals are pretty underwhelming but the feature makes it worth considering if you enjoy your Arthurian myth and legend.
