Cygnus 3 is played across a 6 reels and 4 rows to begin with. This gives you 4,096 ways to win. The layout can expand to 8 rows high, however, upping the ways to win to 262,144. We’ll talk more about how this happens later in the review.
To create a win, land 3 or more matching symbols on consecutive reels, starting from the leftmost reel. See, whilst the layout might look confusing at first, it’s easy to get to grips with.

Theme – gaze at constellations from the Colosseum
Just like the original Cygnus slot, and Cygnus 2, Cygnus 3 takes on an astrology theme with a twist. Whilst the first installment was set in Ancient Egypt, and the second in a mysterious planetarium, this one takes you on a trip to the Colosseum in Rome – we assume.
The reels hang against the infamous amphitheatre, complete with twinkling fires and starry skies. Upon them, lower value symbols are represented by coloured gems. The middle of the paytable holds eagles, horses and lions, whilst the highest paying symbol is the wreath. These give you 10 x your bet for a 6 of-a-kind combination.

Avalanche Feature
A common mechanism in some of the best slots around, the Avalanche feature occurs when a winning combination is formed. As normal, all symbols which contribute to the win are formed, but the column layout brings a new twist.
When new symbols fall in, the gravity mechanism causes them to fall to the left or the right. The grid layout then expands one row higher, giving you more ways to win. In total you can activate 262,144 ways to win, if the layout expands to 8 rows in size.
Multiplier Wilds Feature
In the base game, multiplier symbols and multiplier wild symbols can fall in at any point. Their values are then added together and applied to each win.
A multiplier wild symbol reverts to a regular multiplier symbol once you’ve claimed the win, but if it reaches the bottom row, then it turns wild again.

In Cygnus 3, free drops are essentially free spins. The free drops start with 4 rows in play. The most important thing in this feature is that all multipliers and multiplier wilds remain on the bottom row between drops. This means the multiplier values can only rise!
It’s also possible to win another spin of the Cygnus Wheel, if a Cygnus Wheel symbol lands and reaches the leftmost column.

Cygnus 3 Review Summary – similar features with added jackpots
If you’ve played Cygnus and Cygnus 2, you’ll already know what to expect from this game. Whilst the setting is a little different, the Cygnus 3 slot boasts very similar features to the previous installments. Luckily, that’s not a bad thing. Both slots scored very high ratings from the Online-Slot team, so we’re happy to see this retains our favourite mechanisms.
The biggest innovation here is the Cygnus Wheel, and the jackpots of course. The instant win prizes are a little hit and miss, but the Free Drops bring a lot of excitement. With rising multipliers, they’re a good chance at racking up some big wins.
Obviously, the 10,000 x bet Cygnus Jackpot is the biggest prize on offer. What’s not clear yet is how often it’s hit. We didn’t manage it when we played, although we did manage to hit the smaller Sky jackpot.
If you enjoyed the two previous Cygnus titles and enjoy jackpot slots in general, then this is definitely worth a spin. The win potential isn’t as high as it’s predecessor, but the jackpots add some new excitement.
