I quite like how Buccaneer Blast is designed – you will see the symbols bobbing up and down on the sea. With purple, blue and green sailed pirate ships as the low value symbols, the high value symbols include monkeys and 3 pirates. The red pirate (who looks a little like Captain Hook) is the most rewarding symbol – 3, 4 or 5 will give you 2, 7.5 or 15 times your stake. Remember that winning formations are formed from left to right and right to left – so starting reels 1 or 5. There’s also a pirate flag symbol which is the wild – this replaces all symbols to give you the possible outcome.
Look out for cannons appearing randomly under reels 2 or 4 – when it does, the Ships Turned Wild feature will come into play. If low value symbols appear on the reel the cannon appears under, the cannon fires at those symbols and turning them into wilds in the process. This could lead to 2 fully wild reels in the base game.
Then you have the Buccaneer Blast feature – this is triggered if a black pirate ship appears above reel 3 randomly. The reels then spin again for free with 3 cannons appearing beneath the reels. They will fire randomly at the reels (2, 3 and 4) leaving wilds in the hit positions. This can result in 3 wild reels per respin.
Now, the most you can win is 150 times your stake for a 5 of a kind winning combination with the red pirate – with win both ways technology, you will win twice meaning 300 times your stake. If you fill the reels with the red pirate, you will pocket a whopping 3,000 times your stake! The wilds added by the 2 bonus features will help you achieve that.
Despite not being the most graphically-rich slot, we’ve come across, Buccaneer Blast packs quite a punch – medium to high variance, the win both ways mechanic can be lucrative especially if you form 5 of a kind wins. I like the wilds added in the 2 features which do help. If you want pirates and big wins though, Pirate Gold from Pragmatic Play is my favourite as you can win 32,270 times your stake in 1 of the features!
