Sweet Alchemy is brought to you by Play ‘N Go and is played on a 5×5 grid – available to play on all devices, you can play the game from 10p to £100 per spin. With a magical sugar-coated theme, it’s a cascading grid offering and benefits from action-packed candy, spells and wild powers.
Visually, Sweet Alchemy has a sweet theme with a magical twist – reminiscent of the popular Candy Crush game, you will see symbols such as cubes, beans, cones and doughnuts as well as pastilles, nuts, hearts and stars. The latter is the most valuable symbol giving you 30 times your stake if you form a cluster of 8 or more symbols. There are 3 wilds in Sweet Alchemy – more on this below.
In order to get a winning combination, you need clusters of 4 or more symbols – the bigger the cluster, the bigger the win. As a cascading slot, every win will contribute to the Sugar Rush Meter. If you fill the Sugar Rush Meter with 6 symbols in a spin, 2 regular wilds will replace 2 symbols on the grid – this will give you another chance to form wins.
If you manage to fill the Sugar Rush Meter with 13 symbols, 2 Striped Wilds will replace 2 symbols on the grid. If you form a win, all symbols on the same row or column are removed – these contribute to the Sugar Rush Meter. If you get a win with 25 symbols, 2 Dotted Wilds replace 2 symbols on the grid – they will also remove all instances of a randomly chosen symbol from the grid for bigger wins.
Now, if you get a win with 38 symbols, you will activate the Mix the Elixir Free Round feature. Here you will benefit from 3 Candy Spells – every 3 additional winning symbols will give you another Candy Spell with a total of 7 on offer. Anyway, you will play on a 9×9 grid and your aim is to collect the required symbols by forming clusters of them.
In order to help you form wins, the Alchemist will conjure up Candy Spells – when you play a spin/cascade, a Candy Spell plays out to help you win. They consist of:
- Mixed Candy – symbols on the grid shuffle to give you new wins
- Sweet Surprise – between 7 and 12 wild symbols (any 1 of the 3) are randomly added to the grid
- Sugar Bombs – between 7 and 15 normal symbols are chosen and destroyed which adds new symbols
Now, there are 3 levels in the feature. You can level up by forming wins of the required symbols – you can see your progress on a meter to the right of the grid. If you complete the first level, you will activate the Elixir of Power Bonus feature when the free spins ends – if you complete level 2, the Elixir of Power Bonus feature offers greater rewards. The same applies if you mange to complete level 3.
In the Elixir of Power Bonus feature, you need to pick from chocolate tiles (remind you of Candy Crush?) to reveal magic elixirs until you match 3. If you reached level 1 during the free spins, you can win a 3 or 5 times stake prize or a 2/3 times total win from the free spins.
If you reached level 2, you can win up to 10 times your stake or up to 5 times your total win from the free spins. If you reached level 3, the stake prizes go up to 10 times your stake and the total win from the free spins could be as high as 10x. In effect, completing level 3 could give you a 10x multiplier from your free spins winnings.
Furthermore, there’s a Map feature – every time you complete the Elixir of Power Bonus feature, you move 1 position on the map. This contains scattered Treasure Chests which are won after ever 3 levels on the map. Each chest will offer you a prize of 15% of winnings from the base game since the previous Treasure Chest was opened. If you managed to play for a while without triggering the Elixir of Power Bonus feature, the rewards can be quite substantial.
Despite the sugar-coated/Candy Crush feel to it, Sweet Alchemy is actually a highly volatile slot – you can win up to 3,000 times your stake which can be achieved if you get a 10x multiplier in the Elixir of Power Bonus feature. Overall, a different slot from Play ‘N Go but appealing if you’re into Candy Crush – if you like the theme, Play ‘N Go’s Sweet 27 is decent. If you like grid slots, you cannot go wrong with Play ‘N Go’s Viking Runecraft.
