The Serial slot is played initially with 5 reels, 3 rows and 243 ways to win. Landing 3, 4 or 5 matching symbols from left to right will form a winning combination. The symbols needs to start on reel 1, on adjacent reels and in any position.

Theme – there’s a serial killer on the loose

With a serial killer theme, the Serial slot is about a psycho on the loose. Set in Limitless City, police are on the hunt for a suspect involved in mass serial homicide. With multiple victims reported missing, there are rumours they have been violently dismembered with a rusty chainsaw.

The suspect is a 6 feet 9 male who has been nicknamed the Bodycam Butcher. He has no fear as he is fear. Thirsty for blood which grows every night, he shows no mercy to his unfortunate victims. The Bodycam Butcher looks a lot like the Leatherface character from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre film series. The reason for his name is that he wore masks of human skin with the chainsaw being his signature weapon.

Taking place in a dark and sinister bathroom, there is blood on the shower curtain as well as splattered on the walls. This crime scene is as dark as it gets and tops the gory and disturbing imagery used in Nolimit City’s Mental slot. In terms of the soundtrack, it’s heavy rock metal which adds to the intensity of the source material. Overall, the theme may be dark and disturbing, but credit has to be given to NLC who have again produced a brilliant game, aesthetically at least.

On the reels, symbols include 5 crime scene objects including hard hats, shovels, gloves, chains (from a chainsaw) and butcher meat hooks. The higher value symbols include a human skeleton, scared lady, bloodied doctor, special agent and the Bodycam Butcher himself. The Bodycam Butcher is the best paying symbol with 0.5, 0.8 or 5 x your total bet awarded for 3, 4 or 5 in combination.

Importantly, there are many other symbols to look out for. Serial Bonus Features

The Serial slot has 10 bonus features. Wins give you respins which lead to Enhancer Cells opening. Respin feature

When you land a winning combination, the Respin feature is triggered. Winning symbols stick on the reels with a free respin awarded. Respins continue as long as more winning symbols land on the reels. Furthermore, each respin will see 1 Enhancer Cell at the top and bottom of the grid open up from left to right, 1 reel at a time. Enhancer Cells feature

xSplit Wild feature

Look out for the xSplit Wild symbol which is a 2x wild and represented by a chainsaw. Landing only on reel 5 (the rightmost reel), the chainsaw xSplit Wild splits all symbols in the same row into 2 symbols.

Increasing the number of ways to win, Missing Poster Scatters can also be split which then doubles the number of free spins they award. Finally, xNudge and xWays symbols can also be split. This doubles the multiplier of the xNudge symbol and doubles the sizes of the xWays symbols.

xNudge Wild feature

There’s also an xNudge Wild feature. A stacked wild symbol will always nudge to become fully visible. Every nudge sees the multiplier increase by 1. The xNudge Wild only lands on reels 2, 3 and 4 though. As mentioned above, an xSplit Wild can split the xNudge Wild which doubles the multiplier.

Infectious xWays feature

Present in the Karen Maneater slot, there is an Infectious xWays feature. xWays symbols only appear in Enhancer Cells or can be transformed from a scatter. The Search feature

The Search feature is triggered by landing 3 Missing Poster Scatter symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4. Landing 2 of them will see them transform into xWays symbols.

Every scatter continues a free spins value. All values are totalled which equates to the number of free spins you’ll begin with. Once in, extra Enhancer Cells on reels 2, 3 and 4 open up. The Kill feature

Then you have The Kill feature which is played when you land 3 Missing Poster Scatters plus 1 xSplit Wild. xBet feature

xBizarre feature

With max wins of 74,800 x your total bet, the maximum win is the base game or any free spins feature is 18,700 x bet. If you win this amount, you will be given the chance to use the xBizarre feature.

First of all, one must be thinking what goes on at Nolimit City’s headquarters to come up with such a disturbing theme/concept as found in the Serial slot. Based on the merciless Bodycam Butcher, Nolimit City have gone all out and outdone the gore and controversy offering in the Mental slot.

With spine-tingling screams and terrifying visuals, the heavy metal rock soundtrack compliments the game perfectly. The gameplay is just as nuts with respins leading to Enhancer Cells being unlocked. This then unleashes other symbols which increase the number of ways and adds stacked wilds with increasing multipliers.

The 2 free spins features are where the bigger wins will come from with a larger grid/play area initially. Respins can prolong the features too. The most important symbol is the xSplit Wild which sees a chainsaw hack symbols into 2 to increase the number of ways to win. I found the free spins features to go insane when the right combination of symbols land.

With 18,700 x bet max wins available, it will take approximately 1.4 million spins to occur in the base game. From The Search feature, it will take approximately 265,000 spins. In The Kill feature, it will take 16,000 spins. That said, it’s more likely to win 18,700 x bet than the actual max win (from the xBizarre feature).
