Symbol Collection feature

Feature Symbols

Upgrade	Upgrades gems of the same colour as the collecting bird. If the gem is at the max level, another coloured gem will be upgraded. Look out for multicoloured upgrade symbols which upgrade all gem types simultaneously. The win level of gems increases by 1 to 3 steps, up to a maximum of 5.
Transform	It transforms a cluster of gems around it into the same colour as the collecting bird or into a random number of feature symbols.
Bomb	Bombs collected by a bird will explode when no more wins are formed. It removes all symbols (not including feature symbols) in close proximity. This results in a redrop to fill vacated symbol positions. As a result, the game grid expands up to 8x8 in size.
Anchor Bonus	3 collected by birds triggers the Free Drops feature (full details below).

Free Drops feature

The Free Drops feature is triggered when birds collect 3 Anchor Bonus symbols during a spin. With 5 free spins award, the grid size at the time the feature was activated is carried over to the free spins. Furthermore, the symbol collection and win level are also persistent during the feature. Landing 3 Anchor Bonus symbols will give you additional free drops/spins.

Even though ELK Studios have introduced the CollectR mechanic, it plays like a cluster pays game. The Pirots slot may have a popular pirate theme but the way the birds move around the grid and collect symbols is unique. In layman’s terms, it’s like Pac-Man as the birds gobble up the same coloured symbols.

In terms of the gameplay, collecting enough symbols will lead to gems transforming into feature symbols. This in turn brings in various extras such as substituting wilds and coins. Coins can be worth up to 500 x bet but there is a ‘Max Win’ coin which awards a 10,000 x bet payout.

I quite like the Bomb symbol which gives you more symbols and expands the grid size up to 8×8. The obvious one to look out for the Anchor Bonus symbol which grants entry to the Free Drops feature. If you manage to trigger playing on an 8×8 grid size, you stand a better chance of achieving bigger payouts.

That said, the Pirots RTP of 94% will put off many players. This seems like the go-to rate for ELK Studios these days so it’s something you need to accept or not. That said, the Pirots slot goes in a new direction for a cluster pays/grid slot so ELK need to be applauded.
