Reel Heist Verdict: Captivating Visuals, but the Gameplay isn’t Thrilling or Rewarding
Reel Heist is an unorthodox game. Design-wise, it’s rather good—the cartoon visuals work well, and the blaring siren complements the lighthearted crime scene. It has a Cops ‘n’ Robbers-like layout, but you won’t be seeing the prison gates here. Well, except you are not clever enough to shake off the cop.
The storyline is quite entertaining, but sadly, I can’t say the same about the gameplay. If you are a modern player with eyes on free spins, respins, multipliers, or different forms of Wilds, you might need to look elsewhere. Nevertheless, you can chase instant bags of up to 2,000x the bet.
Things got a bit frustrating in the bonus round. I came close to catching many times, but the bumbling cop made the arrest only rarely. Besides, I questioned myself several times whether the meagre 2,000x the bet max win was worth the chase.
