Visually, Vikings go to Hell has a Norse mythology theme but the setting is hell – with red-hot flames in the backdrop, symbols on the reels include 4 weapon symbols as well as 4 viking symbols. There’s also a wild that replaces all symbols bar the scatter.

The game comes with a Rage Collection feature – basically, you collect rage points as you spin the reels. You begin with 150 rage points for 1 Viking. These points are kept between playing sessions meaning any progress won’t be lost. You can collect rage points by seeing wilds during a battle with a regular demon, The Lord of Chains or Lucifix.

Look out for treasure chests in the base game, which appear on reel 5 only, as they will reward you with an Epic of Good tablet. The Epic Tablet can award 60 rage points for 1 Viking or 60 rage points for all 4 Vikings. It can also give you between 60 and 120 times your stake as well as 12 or 16 free spins (more on this below).

The Good Tablet can give you 7 free spins, 60 rage points for 1 Viking or a cash prize of between 15 and 30 times your stake. Anyway, when you collect 300 rage points on 1 viking, you will trigger the Berzerk Free Spins feature and with it, 7 free spins.

Look out for the Free Spin symbol in the base game as 2 or more will trigger the Demon Fights feature – a demon fight takes place with each Viking symbol on the reels. If the Viking wins the fight, he turns into a wild and 1 rage point is added to its rage collection.

If you get 2 Free Spin symbols, you will activate the Respins feature – you get a respin which allows you to get that all-important 3rd Free Spin symbol. Furthermore, all wilds on the reels are sticky during the respin.

When it comes to Free Spin features, there are 3 types – you have Level 1 which is triggered by getting 3 or more Free Spin symbols on the reels or you win from the base game treasure chest. 3, 4 or 5 will give you 7, 12 or 16 free spins. All Viking symbols that appear on the reels take on a demon – if they win, you get 1 rage point and they become wild. Better still is that all wilds are sticky throughout the feature!

Look out for the Lord of Chains which appears at the end of each free spin when at least 1 Viking symbol is on the reels – he then fights a random Viking. If the Viking gets a hit on the Lord of Chains, the Viking becomes a sticky wild with 1 health bar removed from the Lord of Chains. 3 hits will defeat the Lord of Chains which in turn gives you 2 additional free spins which are played at the end – after you defeat the Lord of Chains, you will get 2 random wilds and all Vikings win their fights with the demon!

The Berzerk Free Spins feature is accessed by collecting 300 rage points on 1 viking – as described above. If you see a Viking in Berzerk mode, the Viking continues like this throughout the feature. After each of these free spins, 1 Viking fights Lucifix – each hit on Lucifix grants you with 2 randomly sticky wild symbols. The Viking also turns into a sticky wild. If you get 3 hits to defeat Lucifix, a 3x multiplier is applied to your winnings – all Vikings will defeat the demons too.

During the free spins, look out for the treasure chest which only appears on the last reel (reel 5) – it will give you an Epic or Good tablet. The Epic tablet will give you 3 additional free spins or 1 wild reel. The Good tablet will give you 2 extra free spins or 2 random wild symbols.

As you have read, there’s a lot going on in Vikings go to Hell. Graphically, it’s brilliant – you wouldn’t expect anything less from Yggdrasil Gaming. In terms of gameplay, it has a lot in common with its predecessors but has been enhanced in my opinion.

I love the Berzerk Free Spins feature as you can get up to 6 sticky wilds as well as Viking sticky wilds – the 3x multiplier is also appealing if you defeat Lucifix and Vikings are guaranteed to defeat the regular demon for even more wilds!
