Valley of the Gods is powered by Yggdrasil Gaming and has 5 reels, 5 rows and 45 to 3,125 ways to win. Playable from 25p to £125 per spin on all devices including laptops, smartphones and tablets, this ancient Egyptian themed offering is about great Gods Horus and Anubis that offers you re-spins and multipliers.
Visually, Valley of the Gods has a mysterious feel to it – visually, it looks superb and is set inside an ancient pyramid. Symbols on the reels include a number of hieroglyphs, Tutankhamen, Bastet, Anubis and Horus. The latter 2 are the most valuable symbols giving you 20 times your stake for 5 across a payline. The soundtrack is quite epic and wouldn’t be out of place in Indian Jones’ The Temple of Doom.
The game benefits from a Re-spins feature which is triggered when you get a winning combination – as a result, the number of ways to win increases as positions with scarabs on them are destroyed. Consecutive wins will eventually lead to 3,125 ways to win! If you manage to clear the whole area, you will invoke ancient incantations and activate both Scarab Collections.
All the winning golden scarabs transform into red or blue scarabs and are collected. You will also get a 2x multiplier and 1 extra life. This is used in the Extra Lives feature as you are granted 1 extra life for every 5 red scarabs collected. If you don’t get a winning spin, you will lose a life basically so the re-spins continue as long as you have lives remaining.
There’s also a Win Multiplier feature which starts at 2x as mentioned above – every 5 blue scarabs collected will increase the multiplier by 1. This can be seen in the orb to the left of the reel set. I’ve managed to play with a multiplier up to 6x before.
Valley of the Gods is quite simple once you spin those reels – the key is the get consecutive wins which results in more ways to win and the Win Multiplier and Extra Lives feature where you can get high multipliers with plenty of free spins essentially. I’ve won just over 450 times my stake on a couple of occasions.
Overall, it’s unique and offers big win potential with the re-spins and multipliers – with a cool 1,500 times your stake to be won, it’s a medium variance game which is nicely balanced. If you like the ancient Egyptian theme, WMS’ Lady of Egypt of Quickspin’s Phoenix Sun are recommended.
