Yggdrasil has gone all out with the visuals of this release. Despite sampling a few designs from its predecessors, Valley of the Dead has a unique eerie atmosphere that sparks a roller coaster of emotions. For me, it all felt quite ominous at first glance, but the spookiness gave way to excitement as I started destroying the BoltLockers.

However, I noted a few letdowns on the technical side. First, the game’s RTP is only 94% at best. This is lower than the standard average for online slot games. It is also a significant disappointment compared to the values in the games that served as inspiration for this title. The 5,800x max win is also nothing to write home about.

The gameplay is quite interesting and brings some fresh air. However, there’s no excitement that follows triggering the free spins round in other games. Clearing all the blockers and triggering extra lives and multipliers is fun, but this comes around way too rarely.
