Niagara Falls is a 5 reel, 20 payline slot that is the first from Yggdrasil Gaming’s new YGS Master concept. Playable from 20p to £400 a spin on all devices, it has a 1930s feel and comes with 3 bonus features that give you stacked spins, multipliers up to 5x and coin trails to give you a path of wilds. There’s also a free spins feature where there’s locking wild reels. Finally, coins will fall down the reels to land into slots under the reels to add to the meter.
Visually, Niagara Falls is quite basic – with a 1930s feel and piano soundtrack, symbols include cherries, oranges, plums, bells, bars, blue and red 7s and the Niagara Falls logo. The latter will give you 5, 8 or 10 times your stake for 5 on a payline. There’s also a wild that gives you 10 times your stake for 5 in combination.
When it comes to bonus features, Niagara Falls has 3. First up is the Coin Drop Bonus feature – there’s a chance a gold coin will appear on the last reel on each base game spin. The coin falls down the reels leaving a trail – it will land on a bonus slot at the bottom of the reels. If the coin lands on a bonus slot that shows a bonus, you will benefit from the following:
- Wild – coin trail symbols are replaced by wilds
- Free Spins – you get 5 free spins in the Niagara Falls Free Spins Bonus feature
- Shake – 1 shake bonus is added to the shake counter which you’ll win
- Stacked Spin – reels re-spin with stacked symbols
- Multiplier Bonus – your current win is subject to a 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x multiplier
The other way to trigger the Niagara Falls Free Spins Bonus feature is by getting the whiskey barrel bonus symbol on reels 1, 3 and 5 simultaneously – this will give you 5 free spins. During the feature, the bonus slots contain only wild bonus text. If a wild bonus text is displayed on any bonus slot after a free spin, the entire reel above becomes a wild reel. This wild reel remains lock for the remainder of the feature.
Finally, there’s the Cash Fall Bonus feature – this can be triggered at random on each base game spin. Coins fall down the reels and land into slots under the reels which are then added to the meter below. You can also see Super Coins which multiplies the slot value by 2 that falls into that slot after the Super Coin has landed. The totals of the amounts in the slots are then added up and won.
Niagara Falls may not be the best-looking slot but it has a certain charm to it. I found my biggest wins came from the Coin Drop Bonus feature as the potential 5x multiplier could lead to wins of 1,000 times your stake on that spin. Overall, it’s a decent slot but Yggdrasil Gaming has produced much better – such as Dwarf Mine and Vikings Go Berzerk which offer more on the design and bonus feature front.
