Theme – a voyage through choppy waters

The theme here is all about pirates and battling them for riches on the high seas. The reels are set on a ship that’s trying to survive during treacherous conditions. Everything’s calm in the base game, but as soon as the Free Spins feature lands, a storm is brewing and the sea turns choppy, with danger from other ships on either side of the reels. It’s very nicely done, albeit very simple.

The soundtrack is typical of a pirate-themed slot, with a tense atmosphere and audio sounding like you’re at the crucial part of a film like the Pirates of the Caribbean or something along those lines. I like what they’ve done here and it’s by no means over the top. It all fits in very well with the theme. The symbol animations are simple but effective too.

Shiver me timbers! We have a good game here with the Cannonade! slot. I was a little confused when it first loaded as I was greeted with a large reel setup and gameplay that caught me by surprise. In a good way. I really like the fantastic streak-driven mechanic where every win is held and respins occur for potential bigger wins.

Additionally, the Expanding ways part of the action is great too with blocker symbols removed to give you more ways to win up to a whopping 46,655.

While the initial promotional pack stated the max win potential as 17,001.1 x your stake, the game loads to tell us it’s 20,000x. We’re not complaining, and it’s nice to see it a little higher. But please bear in mind that volatility here is really high.

Overall, it gets the stamp of approval from me as a good Yggdrasil slot. Some of the action reminded me of Quickspin’s pirate-themed Blue Fortune slot and Odin’s Gamble from Thunderkick with the sticky wins and the streak concept. But that’s by no means a bad thing.
