With a medieval theme, the Black Knight slot is very popular in Las Vegas casinos and is still played a lot today. You join this brave knight in his fight for the glory of his kingdom where he aims to win riches and honour his fair maiden. The slot is based on Sir Morien, a black knight of the round table who appears in various forms in Arthurian legend. He was reputed for having an excellent horse and being superb in combat.

Free Spins Bonus feature

The Black Knight slot focuses almost entirely on the Free Games Bonus feature. It’s triggered by landing 3 or more Crest Bonus Scatter symbols on adjacent reels (beginning from reel 1). 5 of them will result in a 500 x bet payout.

You then head inside Castle Blackspin which has cold, grey stone walls. With 7 (3 scatters) or 12 free spins (4/5 scatters) awarded, Black Knight Wild symbols will expand to take over the whole reel when landing on any of the 3 middle reels.

Additionally, the Black Knight Wild Reel becomes sticky meaning it remains in position for the duration of the feature. This means up to 3 fully sticky wild reels can be in play simultaneously. Black Knight Review Summary: 1 of the first slots to offer sticky wild reels

Whilst newer releases look much better than this classic, the Black Knight slot remains 1 of the most popular Las Vegas games and for good reason. Simply designed, the soundtrack will be comforting for fans of classic WMS games such as Zeus and Kronos.

In terms of the gameplay, Black Knight focuses on the Free Spins Bonus feature. With 7 or 12 free spins awarded, it’s all about landing Black Knight Wild symbols early on. 2 or 3 sticky wild reels can result in decent payouts on all free spins. If you manage to combine this with the high-value King symbol, wins of 5,000 x bet can be achieved per free spin.

That said, wins in the base game don’t seem to exceed 5-20 x my bet, unfortunately. The Big Bet feature costs 20 x bet with sticky Black Knight wilds but it’s a feature that hardly ever pays the initial outlay back.

In summary, the Black Knight slot is a classic game that is much-loved in Las Vegas casinos. Catering to the older player I believe, it was one of the first slots to offer sticky wild reels which has since been used countless times by other providers. WMS also have a sequel, Black Knight 2, but the max win is lower (1,000 x bet).
