Who are WMS?
Known as WMS Gaming and Williams Interactive, they were founded way back in 1943 by Harry Williams – they began by creating pinball machines! They started making slot machines in the early 1990s with their games found all over the world in bricks and mortar casinos. In 2013, WMS became a wholly owned subsidiary of Scientific Games which also owns other slot providers like Bally, Barcrest and NextGen Gaming.
WMS – online slots since 2010
WMS were quite late to the party with online slots – they first released their slots via Jackpot Party, their own online casino which no longer exists. WMS slots can now be found at virtually all good online casinos as they are distributed through the NYX Interactive network (part of Scientific Games). They have 100s of slots to choose from covering every theme.
Land-based WMS classic slots
WMS is responsible for some of the most played slots ever – with the likes of Zeus, Black Knight and Wizard of Oz. Other notable games including Raging Rhino which is highly volatile and paved the way for 6 reel, 4,096 ways to win offerings.
Their most famous game is definitely Zeus – with a Greek mythology theme, this 5 reel, 30 payline title takes you to Mount Olympus and is all about the Zeus feature where you can win unlimited free spins. Medium variance with top wins of 500 times your stake on each spin or free spin, it’s considering 1 of the 2 most popular slots ever (alongside IGT’s Cleopatra).
Other WMS slots to try
WMS has such a vast portfolio that it’s hard to decide which of their slots to play. The iconic Medusa is good but Black Knight II is my personal favourite due to the fact you can get up to 3 sticky wild reels in the feature. They offer branded slots like Friends, Elvis the King, Bruce Lee, Wizard of Oz Ruby Slippers and Tetris Super Jackpots.
They also have a wide range of Monopoly slots. I really like games like Giant’s Gold, Frozen Inferno, The Cheshire Cat and Amazon Queen. WMS has also licensed the MegaWays engine from Big Time Gaming to release MegaWays versions of the iconic Raging Rhino – you can also play Battleship Direct Hit.
WMS’ Mega Drop network
Some of WMS’ more recent releases are part of the Mega Drop network – these are normally simple slots that come with 3 progressive jackpots. Won at random, the Minor, Major and Mega Jackpots offer cash wins of up to £200,000.
A lot more to come from WMS
With probably the latest slot portfolio in the world, WMS could release 1,000s of online slots – they do release classic slots as well as new concepts. They are also using new game mechanics on old classics which is the best of both worlds. The good news is that WMS slots can be found at most online casinos.
