Xterminate RTP, Details & Wager Limits

The Xterminate slot is played on a 6×5 reel setup and uses the Scatter Pays mechanic. 8 or more matching symbols are needed anywhere on the reels to land a winner. Winning symbols are then removed from the grid and the Avalanche feature is triggered. All empty positions will be replaced with new or existing symbols coming from above. This process continues until no new winners are formed.

The betting range is between 10p per spin and £100. Hit the bet value to change your total stake. You will have 14 predefined bet values to choose from. Auto play is also an option but only for non-UK players.

The Xterminate RTP is 94.12%, which is on the low side compared to a lot of other Thunderkick slots on the market. But it could be the start of providers lowering the RTP rate in the UK at the time of writing (February 2024). We’ve seen the likes of ELK Studios producing slots with a 94% RTP rate, and we expect a few more providers to follow suit regularly in the not too distant future.

In terms of volatility, it’s very high. The slot even warns you when you load the game that volatility is high – “Brace yourself, this game is not for the faint of heart” is the message. The hit frequency is low at 9.96%.

The maximum win is 25,000 x bet, which is generous and makes up for the low RTP rate. However, it’s important to note that wins of this kind on Thunkerkick slots are extremely rare.

Theme – anarchy in the city

It’s not easy to pinpoint the exact theme here, but it’s quite futuristic with chaos in the background as you spin away. There are riots taking place with billowing smoke and the title of the slot suggests that something or someone is looking to be wiped out.

The soundtrack is also quite futuristic if that makes sense. Listen to it and you’ll know what I mean. On the reels, the A-10 Royals make up the lower-paying symbols. These are joined by higher-paying  cans of spray paint, club, gas masks and robots. The robot symbol pays the most and reminds me of robot character in the original Terminator film. 8-9 on the grid will pay 4 x bet, 10-11 will pay 5 x bet and 12 or more will pay 7 x bet.

There’s no Scatter in the game but there is a Charged Wild symbol. We explain how that works in full in the bonus features section a little further down in the review.

Produced using the latest HTML5 technology, you can play the Xterminate mobile slot on smartphones, tablets and desktop devices. The game has been fully optimised for mobile play, but I do prefer playing slots with a larger reel size on a bigger device to fully appreciate the visuals.

Xterminate Bonus Features

There are 4 bonus features to enjoy in the Exterminate slot game. Wilds and Bomb symbols play a big part. Read on to understand how all of the features work, starting with the Multiplier feature.

Xtermintate Multiplier feature

All wins that land are presented as multiples of the base bet and are added to the Xterminate multiplier above the reels, as you’ll notice from the above screenshot. Every win is multiplied by the current Xterminate Multiplier initially and then added back to the total Xterminate Multiplier. Once the Avalanches are completed, the Xterminate Multiplier is multiplied by the base bet and then paid out.

Bomb Symbol

If there are no winning combinations on the grid but there is a bomb symbol present, it will explode but protect all instances of the most common symbol in view, Wilds and Bomb symbols. If multiple symbols are equally common, on the highest paying symbols according to the paybale is held. All other symbols are remove and the Avalanche feature is triggered.

Charged Wild Symbol

As mentioned in the symbol table above, the Charged Wild substitutes for all except the Bomb symbol. It is worth a random number of lives between 1 and 3. Regardless of how many winning combinations the symbol is part of, only 1 life is consumed. When all lives are gone, the Charged Wild is removed from the grid. These symbols are protected when Bomb symbols explode.

Bet+

Non-UK players will have the option to buy the following features:

• Guaranteed Win – Each spin guaranteed at least 1 winning combination for 10 x bet. The RTP in this mode is 94.45%.
• Win Boost – Odds on winning are doubled for 2 x bet. The RTP in this mode is 94.25%.
• Win Boost Plus – Odds on winning are 5 times higher for 5 x bet. The RTP in this mode is 94.35%.

When I first loaded the Xterminate slot I wasn’t too sure what to expect. After spinning away for a while, I still wasn’t sure exactly where Thunderkick was going with this. I’m still unsure after hundreds of spins if I’m honest. The theme is a mix of future meets chaos, and it’s not a theme that’s going to be enjoyed by everyone. Those who love a Free Spins feature are also going to be disappointed as you won’t find one here either.

The RTP rate of 94.12% isn’t ideal, but let’s look at the positives. The max win potential is generous at 25,000 x bet, the visuals and the audio are good and there is an unlimited multiplier on offer that can help land bigger wins. Overall, this will suit players looking for something different and I like that it’s quite innovative compared to many other slots. But tread carefully as the volatility levels a really high.
