Theme – join a giant animal rave

A massive rave is the setting for King of the Party. Backed by a soundstage, enormous speakers, the superstar DJ and the bobbing heads of a euphoric crowd, the reels feature playing card suit symbols, a star, and higher-value animal partygoers. There’s a lizard, a lynx and punky pigs and hyenas. Top of the bill is the DJ lion who pays 50 x stake if you land 12 or more on the same spin.

The W is the wild. This substitutes for all the standard symbols. Finally, there’s the gold disc which is the bonus symbol. Land 3 or more on a single spin or single set of avalanches to activate the bonus round.

There’s a bright, glossy sheen to the imagery here which is very nicely done. You’ll hear an EDM soundtrack pumping away while you spin which complements the visuals perfectly. If the repetitive beats are a bit too much you can play with just the sound effects active. There’s a way to mix the amount of each element of the soundtrack which is a handy addition.

King of the Party Bonus Features

There’s plenty on the bill when it comes to bonus features in King of the Party. Highlights include avalanche reels with multipliers, exploding wilds, overlay multipliers and free spins with even more multipliers.

Avalanche Reels with Multiplier feature

Land a winner and an avalanche follows. The successful symbols are blasted from the reels and new symbols drop in and replace them. If you land enough matching symbols or wilds to form a new winner the process is repeated. These avalanches keep on coming until there’s one with no new winner. Below the reels, you’ll see a multiplier meter. This increases by 1x with each successive avalanche before resetting following a winless avalanche.

Overlay Multipliers

Extra multipliers can appear at random on all standard symbols (but not on the wild or bonus symbols). Land a winning combination that includes the symbol with the overlay multiplier and the payout is boosted by the multiplier shown. Land more than one overlay multiplier and their values are added together to deliver an even bigger payout boost.

Free Spins Bonus Game

Trigger the Free Spins Bonus Game by landing 3 or more gold disc bonus symbols on the same spin or single set of avalanches.

• 3 bonus symbols = 10 free spins
• 4 bonus symbols = 15 free spins
• 5 bonus symbols = 20 free spins
• 6 bonus symbols = 25 free spins

Any multiplier that was active on the triggering spin is carried over to the Free Spins. Each avalanche also increases the multiplier. The big difference during the bonus is that the multiplier doesn’t reset following a winless avalanche, it keeps on rising throughout the feature.

If a wild lands during the Free Spins but doesn’t make up part of a winning combination it triggers the Wild Explosion Feature. All the symbols on the same reel and row as the wild are blasted away and a new avalanche follows. If that reel or row includes an overlay multiplier, that value is added to the overall multiplier.

Re-triggers are possible too. Land 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 bonus symbols and another 3, 5, 7, 9 or 11 free games are added to your total.

Players in some territories can up their stake per spin and boost their chances of triggering a feature.

The visuals and the gameplay are great, but the slot is let down by low max win potential and a poor RTP rate compared to others on the market.

This party has the potential to be pretty wild courtesy of the sky-high volatility. Design-wise, it’s terrific, and just what fans have come to expect from a Thunderkick slot. I liked the gameplay here too. The avalanches and multipliers deliver plenty of action in the base game but it’s the bonus where the action can really pump up.

Carrying over a decent multiplier from the base game into the free spins can make all the difference. Throw in the wild explosions and it’s a pretty potent combination.

The downside here is the skinny 94.32%. The 5,000 x stake win, while certainly not to be sniffed out isn’t particularly large either.

Despite those slightly underwhelming numbers, I enjoyed King of the Party. With its varied gameplay and classy sound and visuals, it’s a rave you won’t want to miss.
