Visually, Carnival Queen is rather good – based on the world-famous Mardi Gras carnival, this slot takes you a vibrant street where it’s all about eating, parading and dressing up. Symbols on the reels include A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9 royals as well as 4 carnival dressed characters. There’s also a crown which is the most rewarding symbol, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 on a payline will give you 1, 2.5, 5, 10 or 20 times your stake respectively. The W is the wild and replaces all symbols bar the scatter – 6 on a payline will give you 20 times your stake.
The game uses an Avalanche feature – when you get a winning combination, symbols included are replaced with new symbols dropping from above. This continues as long as you carry on getting winning combinations to give you multiple wins from each spin.
As a result, the Multiplier feature comes into play – for each Avalanche, the multiplier increases by 1 – the multiplier carries on increasing with every winning outcome. This is also applies in the Bonus Game feature where things get even better.
The Bonus Game feature is played when you get 3 or more mask scatters in the base game – your reward will be 12 free spins. If you were to get more scatters, you’d receive an additional 4 free spins (for every scatter) – i.e. if you triggered the feature with 6 scatters for example, you’d start off with 24 free spins. During the feature, 2 or more scatters will give you extra free spins starting at 3 – any additional scatter will give you 3 additional free spins. There’s no limit to how many free spins you can win in total.
Now, the Avalanche feature applies meaning you can win consecutive times from each free spin – furthermore, the Multiplier feature also comes into play. The difference being that the multiplier value doesn’t reset – for example, if you were to reach a 10x multiplier, a losing free spin would not revert the multiplier to 1x!
Finally, when you get a losing spin, a wild will remove all symbols (bar the scatter) vertically and horizontally – this gives you another chance to form a winning combination and commence the Avalanche feature with the multiplier increasing.
Carnival Queen is quite simple once you get spinning those reels – it’s all about consecutive wins which increase the multiplier in both the base game and free spins. The difference in the free spins is that the multiplier doesn’t reset meaning bigger wins potentially.
Variance wise, it’s in the middle but it can reward you with payouts of up to 22,700 times your total stake on each spin/free spin! If you’re in the party mood, I recommend you try Play ‘N Go’s Samba Carnival which focuses on the Rio festival.
