Join an intrepid treasure hunter on a trek for Egyptian riches in Book of Adventure: The Original Journey. Created by Stake Logic, it’s a simple 5 reel, 10 payline slot that comes with a free spins round with special expanding symbols. Stakes start at 10p per spin, rising to a maximum of £50.

With a dusty desert, palm trees and pyramids in the background, the reels are set within a pair of hieroglyph-filled pillars. On those reels you’ll see gold edged royal values. More lucrative are the trio of Egyptian symbols and the plucky adventurer. The latter is the best paying symbol. Land 2, 3, 4 or 5 of these on a payline and you’ll pocket 1, 10, 100 or 500 times your stake.

The Book of Adventure is the wild. It substitutes for all other symbols. It also acts as a scatter. Land 3 of them on the same spin and you’ll trigger the game’s Free Spins Bonus Game feature.  Once activated, you can look forward to 10 free spins.

Before the feature begins, 1 symbol will be chosen at random to become the special expanding symbol. Every time that symbol hits, it expands to fill the reel if that expansion leads to a winning combination being formed. The expanding symbol pays 2, 20 or 200 times your stake per payline during the feature. Landing 3 more scatters on the same spin during the feature will add another 10 free spins to your total.

Book of Adventure: The Original Journey is a very simple game. The gameplay is straightforward and the free spins with expanding symbol is a combination we’ve seen in many games. It’s certainly not the freshest take you’ll see on this classic theme but it’s solid enough.

The same can be said of the design. The visuals are nicely drawn and gold dominates the colour scheme. It looks quite classy though, especially when combined with the haunting Arabian-style soundtrack. It is a highly volatile offering which can reward you with 5,502 times your total stake on each spin/free spin.

The Egyptian theme has been done to death by developers. Book of Adventure: The Original Journey doesn’t offer anything we haven’t seen already. If you’re a fan of the ancient world, then it’s worth a look. If the theme doesn’t usually appeal, the simple gameplay probably won’t offer enough to win you round. I recommend you try other Stake Logic slots like Valkyries of Odin and Midnight Rush.
