On the reels, the lower-paying symbols are made up of different coloured gemstones, a moon and a sun. The higher-paying ones include a winged heart, a pink fox, a blue owl and a golden dragon. The golden dragon symbol is the most rewarding, paying 3, 6 or 16 x your total stake for 8-9, 10-11 or 12+ in view on the reels.

Moon Beauty feature

Land 4 or more Blue Scatters in the base game to trigger this bonus feature. You can also land 4+ Pink Scatters and choose this one. This Free Spins feature is low in volatility, which may see more frequent wins but at a lower level than the Sun Beauty feature, which is highly volatile.

If any of the higher-paying symbols form a win during the bonus round, a regular wild or multiplying wild will replace 1 of the winning symbols. The multiplier values can be 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x or 20x. All multiplying wilds will stay on the reels and will increase any cascading wins until there are no more cascades and the reels reset. It’s also important to note that there can only be 1 multiplying wild on the reels at any point.

Sun Beauty feature

This bonus feature works in the same way as the Moon Beauty feature, but you will need 4 or more Red Scatters on the reels in the base game to trigger this one. Furthermore, this feature is highly volatile, whereas the other feature is low in volatility.

The only other difference is that the winged heart is the only higher-paying symbol that brings wilds or multiplier wilds into play. In the other bonus feature, it was all high-paying symbols. There’s no need to repeat myself here as it plays out the same as the Moon Beauty feature with multiple values and retrigger opportunities the same too.

Bonus Buy & Double Chance

These may or may not be available in your country. If they are, you will see the options to the left of the reels. You can buy the bonus feature for 100 x your total stake. You can then choose which Free Spins feature to play.

In terms of the Double Chance option, you can increase your bet by 25% in the base game to give you twice as much chance of landing the Free Spins feature. So, for example, if your usual base game spin is £1, adding Double Chance would increase the bet to £1.25.

Celestial Beauty Review Summary – a solid anime slot

The Celestial Beauty slot is certainly one for those who enjoy the manga and anime theme. If you’re not one of these people, it’s probably going to be hard to get into this one. There aren’t too many of these types of slots on the market, to be honest, but that is arguably an indication of the niche.

Ignoring the theme, the gameplay is very straightforward and you’ve got a couple of nice Free Spins features with different volatility levels to bring you different payouts. You could argue that the highly volatile feature is better, but I didn’t see any difference really when testing.

The 5,000 x max win isn’t too bad, and it’s definitely helped with the above-average RTP rate of 96.5% and the medium volatility. Overall, it’s not going to blow any similar slots out of the water but it’s one that will be enjoyed by fans of the theme.
